Apple Watch security

There's been a lot of talk lately about Apple Watch security. While some users complain that if the security code is activated the watch asks you repeatedly throughout the day, which is quite annoying because it is not easy to enter on such a small screen, now the problem appears about what the Apple Watch does not have the anti-theft system that Apple added to its iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch two years ago, with the launch of iOS 7. What about the security of the Apple Watch? What is true in all this?

It was one of the first questions that our friend Samuel (@Deckard_) answered us in the episode 23 of our podcast: Is it true that the security code is continually asked of you? The answer could not be more emphatic: No. The security code that the Apple Watch requests (as long as you activate it, of course) you only have to enter it when you put the Apple Watch on your wrist. If you don't take it off again, you won't have to put it back in until you take off the watch and put it back on your wrist. It is a security mechanism that protects your data against the loss or theft of the watch, and therefore highly recommended.

But it's even better you can configure the Apple Watch to unlock the watch from the iPhone, using Touch ID. Like when you unlock your iPhone, you only have to place your finger on the phone's sensor and voila, your Apple Watch is unlocked, so you don't have to click on the small numbers on the screen.

No anti-theft system

This security code protects your data, and after 10 attempts, if you do not enter it correctly, it will erase the content of your watch. But anyone who picks it up can then use it without problems by associating it with their iPhone. This is not the case with iOS devices that require the iCloud key to activate them, as long as you have the Find my iPhone option active, which is highly recommended. Of course, Apple could add this security option at any time, and it will surely do so in future updates, but at the moment it is not included. Until then, it is best to take care of your watch as if it were a piece of timepiece worth more than € 500.

The code asks for it when you don't have the watch on your wrist and you touch the screen, at that moment you can unlock it, also when placing it on your wrist it will ask for it, and it will not ask you again as long as you have it on your wrist.
