Apple Watch Series 3 does not get along with hospitals

Apple Watch Series 3 reboots hospitals

The Apple Watch is already in its third generation. The latter has an LTE connection - not in Spain, at the moment - which made it more independent and did not need the iPhone to function. Nevertheless, this model is having serious problems in hospitals.

In October of last year a thread was opened on the Apple discussion forums. There a user reported that you suffered from reboots of your Apple Watch Series 3 unit from time to time and who works in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital. After this message, several were the users who also reported the same problem.

To date there have been a dozen messages that have been published in the same thread. And the most curious thing is that all users who complain about reboots have two things in common: they have the same Apple Watch model — the Series 3 with and without LTE — and they work or are in contact with the intensive care units of different hospitals.

There is even one of them who says that he gave his wife an Apple Watch Series 3 for Christmas and after seeing how it restarted every 60-90 minutes, they went to change the unit of the smart watch for a new one; the result was the same. Apparently, so that this does not happen, the user must put his Apple Watch in "airplane mode". Although, of course, you will no longer receive notifications and you must do without much of the grace of having a smartwatch on your wrist.

Apple hasn't commented on this yet, but we can echo what the company itself points out in the user's manual Apple Watch:

Interference with medical devices: Apple Watch contains components and radios that emit electromagnetic fields. The Apple Watch, some of the straps, the magnetic charging cable for the Apple Watch, the magnetic charging case for the Apple Watch, and the magnetic charging dock for the Apple Watch contain magnets. These electromagnetic fields and magnets can interfere with pacemakers, defibrillators, or other medical devices. Leave a safe distance between the medical device and the Apple Watch, the straps, the magnetic charging cable for the Apple Watch, the magnetic charging case for the Apple Watch, and the magnetic charging dock for the Apple Watch. Obtain specific information about the medical device from the manufacturer and your physician. Stop using Apple Watch, straps, Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Cable, Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Case, and Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock if you suspect they are interfering with your pacemaker, defibrillator, or any other medical device.
