The Apple Watch Series 7 looks like it won't be compatible with current straps

Render of Apple Watch Series 7

Since the launch of the first generation of the Apple Watch, many have been the users who have bought a large number of straps for the Apple Watch creating impressive collections, collections that if the latest rumors are confirmed, they will not be able to continue using them with the next generation of the Apple Watch.

If we pay attention to the rumors surrounding the Apple Watch Series 7, we can take for granted that the redesign of the Apple Watch will arrive with the seventh generation, a generation that offers us a design with flat edges and new sizes (41 and 45 mm). This would be the second renewal after the launch of the Series 4.

Such a major change in design has generated a large number of rumors, rumors related to the compatibility of previous belts with those of the Series 7. When Apple introduced the Series 4, the size changed from 38 to 40 mm and from 42 to 44 mm, however, the previous straps were still available with the new design.

With the passage to a flat-edged design, the seventh generation of the Apple Watch could no longer be compatible with the straps of the older models. When user UnclePan unveiled the new Series 7 screen sizes, he claimed that the straps would still be compatible, but new information claims otherwise.

However, Max Weinbach, has stated through his Twitter account that new Series 7 straps will not be compatible with older models. In recent years, Apple has made slight modifications to some of its straps, such as the Solo Loop that require a Series 4 or higher although theoretically they are designed for Series 4 and previous generations.

Once the presentation event scheduled for September 14 is over, we will leave doubts, since Apple will update its website with the new devices and, where appropriate, with the new straps for the Apple Watch, straps that in the description will specify whether they are compatible with all Apple Watch models or only from the 7 series.
