Manage your full ASUS router from your iPhone with the official app

Router

ASUS has always been one of the reference brands for all of us who are not satisfied with the typical router of debatable quality that telecommunications companies put out, and in the middle of 2016 the minimum that can be demanded of a quality router is that it also offer us a quality mobile app. ASUS's fulfill the mission, although if we look at the details there are some points to improve.

Managing the router

ASUS has chosen to offer us a futuristic screen in the purest Minority Report style to welcome us to the application, and from this same view we can observe the state of network traffic in real time, as well as seeing the status of our router. By sliding your finger we get access to three other screens where we can see the Wi-Fi configuration, the use of the CPU and RAM of the device and the number of clients that we have connected to the network, distinguishing between those that are wireless and those that are wired. .

From each individual screen we can manage practically all aspects of the router just as if we were on a computer through the web interface, and if we move to the "More" section we will have access to dozens of functions to quickly configure the router, including plugins and third-party add-ons.

Pros and cons

The best of the application without a doubt is the ease of configuring the router at all times, being able to update it and even share the WiFi with friends easily with a couple of taps on the screen. The application is undoubtedly designed so that all accesses are a couple of taps and it does not come to mind to return to the computer to use the web interface.

As for the negative part, perhaps what will attract our attention the most is that aspects related to translation have not been taken care of excessively. That is, the app is well translated, but the translation causes some texts to be poorly positioned (as can be seen in the capture with "security") which leaves us with a result unprofessional and unsightly. On the other hand, although the design is not bad, it is true that some elements do not agree too much with the design style that Apple has been following correctly for some years now.

We are talking in any case of a free app that, with a couple of tweaks, will be perfect for all owners of a ASUS router compatible with it. It is already essential if you have one, by the way.
