Backgrounder, allows you to keep applications open in the background on the iPhone / iPod Touch

background

As a result of a comment in an article this morning, I realized that there was hardly any talk in the Blog, about this application that I consider very interesting for our devices. That is why I am going to do a small review of the application with the evolution of its updates until the last one that came out yesterday, which is svn.r230.

Backgrounder is a tool for the iPhone / iPod Touch that allows you to keep other applications installed on the device in the background that need to be running.

- Version svn.r10-2

This is the first version of the application and it works as follows:

For example, if you are downloading a song with dTunes but need to exit to do anything else on the iPhone / iPod Touch, but you don't want to interrupt the song download, you can start downloading a song and press the button. "Home" until a pop-up appears on the screen that says "Backgrounding Enabled". Thereafter, you can leave dTunes by pressing the button once. "Home" and perform any other operation on the device.

If you reopen dTunes, the screen that appears will be the same as it was when you closed it before opening the other application.

To deactivate Backgrounder, just press the button "Home" until a pop-up appears on the screen that says "Backgrounding Disabled".

- Updates -

- Version svn.r25-1

It improves the code somewhat, giving it better stability.

- Version svn.r125

backgrounder2

This new version has added a very interesting feature that is the 'Auto-Activation' or the ability to select the application we want, which always remains open in the background automatically after the first boot.

However, this feature still does not work optimally in all applications, and specifically in BiteSMS

The code has been improved.

- Version svn.r127

backgrounder13

Basically it is an update that improves some of the problems that appeared up to the previous versions and in particular the one that has led the function of "Auto-activated".

Fund management appears to be improving and overall greater stability is seen.

This procedure works with any other application. Installing this tool does not add any icon on the screen, and its use increases battery consumption.

- Version svn.r171

You can use more applications simultaneously and switch between them, without closing them.

img_0162-160x2401

Added the button "Persistence", which consists of a new activation method. If this option is activated, the corresponding application will remain active until you choose to close permanently.

img_0163-160x240

Added the button "Mode", which, in addition to simple pop-up, which now manages. provides a true list of tasks from which we can see all the applications open at the moment.

img_0164-160x240

Added the menu "Button" that allows you to choose the way you want it to work. We can leave active the "Single touch" keeping the Home button pressed, or select the new "double touch" with the Home button.

- Version svn.r187

35-160x240

A process manager has been created to monitor and manage open applications.

Added the ability to close, to force closure or respring when selecting one of the applications.

It can no longer be launched from the lock screen.

General improvement of the Code.

How can we see the action of "leave" is diversified, as a consequence, we have the opportunity to respring when trying to exit an open application or to execute a forced closure by another always active application such as "Telephone".

- Version svn.r206.

img_00322

An interesting feature appears called "Blacklisted" (blacklist) that prevents information about the use of specific applications from being given. To insert a black list, tap on the corresponding button.

This version also fixes some bugs with the transparency of folders created in categories.

Displays the notification of the applications that have received a notification (such as email, SMS, etc.).

- Version svn.r227

Appearance of a new mode of «Identification in the Icons» of open applications. All running applications will be easily recognizable on the SpringBoard.

The second novelty brings the possibility of allowing a new animation in the screen transition.

Fixed a bug that frequently made it impossible to remember Backgrounder on the "Lock Screen" and on the "SpringBoard".

- Version svn.r230

It is a small update, but it is still interesting, since it adds the ability to disable the identification that allows you to see open applications, Badge.

Backgrounder is a great application, but it has to be used with care, so as not to affect too much the speed and performance of the iPhone. If you have many applications open the terminal slows down considerably.

Backgrounder, is available in the category "System" de Cydia o Icy through the repository of BigBoss.

Magnificent post, it has improved a lot and as Condor says, it does seem like a symbian style, but I have an inav theme installed, and most of the programs are thrown back without using backgrounder, and using it of course it gets stuck with the first application ... …… ..and without the inav theme it does not convince me either, for the notes, safari and some other but for 3rd degree programs or games it is almost nil, it slows down the iphone menu, as it looks jerky hahaha. the program is great but we need more hardware …… ..

I realized the other day that in the options you could put the background applications in the symbian style and don't see what happened, now it is a super application, and not before with the home click!

it could be a great application…. but what interests us willingly is that applications such as SPRING, PARLINGO, SKYPE etc… will always remain open…. AND IT IS NOT LIKE THAT. new messages are closed or not notified, no matter how much I have fiddled with, there is no way…. any tricks out there?

The configuration icon does not appear to me anywhere. Does this happen to someone else?

Well, I have used it and with a nimbuz it works super well for me, I get messages when I am in other options, what I do not understand is why mail, safari cel, and ipod have the logito that they are also working, that will not consume more memory?

Hello, I am quite new to using the iPhone, I wanted to know where I can download this application »background»… I look for it in the app store and I can't find it. Thanks

If you read the article you will see that you need to have the jailbreak done and that Backgrounder is available in the “System” category of Cydia or Icy through the BigBoss repository.
It is not in the AppStore.
Today there are applications in Cydia like Multifl0w that work very well in the background.
This is very old. But in order to install an application that works correctly in the background, you have to have the Jailbreak done on the iPhone.

Thank you very much berlin for the information, I am starting to find out about the general use. Another thing, I live in Arg and I bought it in Chile, therefore I bought the gevey here ... but every time I turn off the cell phone or every other day I have to do the »cracking» back and it gives me the H ... Q do you think? is the gevey bad? Is it the fault of the Arg phone company (of course)? I do not know what to do

  14.   berlin said

From what you say it must not be from the Gevey card. That must be because you have Jailbroken with iOS 4.3.4 or 4.3.5 which is tethered

  15.   Leonardo said

No no, I don't have the jailbreak done …… I have it »original» I bought it 1 week ago…. that's why I don't understand why gevey is not good for me

  16.   berlin said

I have been looking at the official Gevey website and the 3 types of Gevey (SIM, supreme and ultra) are compatible up to iOS 4.3.5.
Turn off you mean turn off the iPhone completely, because if so, I don't know why you turn it off. I have all the iPhones since 2G and I have never turned them off, unless it is to put it away for a while. But if it is used it is not necessary to turn it off completely ...

I'm going to try not to turn off the phone to see if that can be solved …… ..then changing the topic of the multifunction I cannot use it well (go from one app to another without cutting it) until I do the jailbrak? I can't make sense of it. For apple to promote both the multifunction in the iphone 4 if to be able to use it you have to do a jail
