As many of you already know, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have a barometer that allows them to know the atmospheric pressure variations in order to calculate height increases. This is precisely why the Health application is able to detect the number of floors that we have climbed, something that some sports applications in the App Store also offer.
If we want to see the raw data of the iPhone 6 barometer, the Barometer application of the App Store shows us the atmospheric pressure current and the variation in height while going up in an elevator or climbing a mountain. A very specific utility that will have a limited audience, even more so when Barometer only works with the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus.
After several years using devices with a barometer to calculate the profiles on my mountain biking routes, I have to say that the data provided by this technology is very close to reality but not 100% accurate, something that must be attributed to the change in atmospheric pressure throughout the day. This can be easily verified by observing that the starting point and the end point of the route are not level despite being exactly the same, something that requires a software-level correction to correct the error.
Barometer does not offer the possibility of making profiles with the variation in height with respect to time so this will not be a problem either, what's more, the vast majority of us will download this application as a curiosity although since is free, we can always delete it if we don't get any use from it:
