Are you having battery problems after updating to iOS 8.4.1? Here are some tips

Battery-iPhone

Every time a new version of iOS is released, they may appear small but annoying problems. The most widespread are usually related to GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth or, what this article is about, battery. In most cases, the problem is due to a bad update that leads to a small failure of the previous version, being problems that are easily solved. If you have problems with the battery after updating to iOS 8.4.1 you can try some of the following tips that usually work for all versions of iOS.

  • Force a reboot: The easiest and fastest thing is to force a reboot. It is said that by forcing a restart we will solve up to 80% of the small software bugs that we may experience in iOS. To do this, we press and hold the start button and the rest button at the same time until we see the apple.
  • Reset settings: Another thing we can do quickly is to reset the settings by going to Settings / General / Reset / Reset settings.
  • Recalibrate the battery: Sometimes when installing a new operating system, the battery does not identify well where it is and needs to be recalibrated. To do this, we charge the device to 100%, then we let the battery discharge completely with normal use and then we leave the iPhone unused for 6-8 hours. After 6-8h, we reconnect the iPhone and charge it up to 100% without interrupting the charge, ideally for 5 more hours. Then we force a restart with the sleep + start button until we see the apple and disconnect the iPhone from the electrical network.
  • Check which apps are using GPS: Something that can also drain the battery of any device is an indiscriminate use of GPS. To check that there is nothing wasting a lot of battery, we go to Settings / Privacy / Location and we make sure that there is no unwanted behavior in this section.
  • Do a restore from scratch of iOS 8.4.1. The last thing you can try is to connect your iPhone to iTunes and restore the device. Once restored, you configure it as a new iPhone without recovering a backup.

If none of this solves it, now you can only be patient and wait for iOS 9. Until just over 24 hours ago you could downgrade to iOS 8.4, but that is no longer possible because said system is no longer signed.

What is the purpose of leaving it charging for 5 more hours after completing the charge? I do not see much sense in it since once the charge is finished the device stops charging.

Hello, knibal. The reason for leaving it so long is to make sure it charges well. Count that it takes an hour and a half to two to load, so it is 3 more to be sure. You also have to bear in mind that if you are calibrating it, it is assumed that the iPhone does not recognize well what percentage of battery it has, so it may cut off the power prematurely. The last moments of charging, it receives less energy and what we do not want is to disconnect it before it is 100%.

In addition, if you use load management applications, you will see that they advise you that when you reach 100% you continue charging for half an hour. Charging longer, we get it to charge 100% real.

      A greeting.

What is surprising to me on my iPhone 5S is that after calibrating it is even worse than before.

I think the best we can do now is install the beta 5 of iOS 9

Sometimes after a few days of updating or restoring the problem is fixed. It happened to me that at first it got hot and the battery didn't last at all, after a few days it went away.

I do not know if it will be because of the update, but of course it is going like the ass now ... it does not last me even 8 hours !! ... I just restored the settings to see if there is luck .... what I did not know was going to remove the fingerprints of the itouch, the wifis ... a little porculin.

Give thanks Jesus, my 5S with less than 3 hours of use has ventilated 60%, I have tested in beta 5 of iOS 9 and it works the same ...

Maybe in part, your problem comes from the hand of having a 5s. Mine must be around two years old. The batteries lose capacity and that suffers the duration. You may have to consider changing it.

I bought my new iPhone 5S in March of this year, therefore your comment is not valid in my case haha. Greetings!

That happens to them for being desperate, for wanting things before the necessary time: the banana is still tender and they want to eat it ripe. Since a new update comes out, they rush to install it hastily without measuring the negative consequences, errors that they may contain. I still have 8.3 and it is worth moms who release new versions, I do not update until users give their approval through their experiences, comments and level of satisfaction.

The best way to calibrate the battery of iOS devices is as advised in this post. I am not a developer or anything like that, what I am is one of those who has read and reads daily in a couple of pages like this. I have to say that this is the daily and rare that I spend two days without looking at it .. AS IT EXOLIES IT, THIS IS HOW IT IS CALIBRATED.
For those of you who notice so much consumption, I advise you to follow the advice that they say here and take into account that each exit of a new iOS if you install it, you will almost certainly mess up the device more than normal. I no longer say anything if you are one of those who with Cydia have installed all the tweak that you see myths or those that you think you like ... Anyway. That to install tweak you also have to inform yourself well because some, for example, some tweak are not compatible with others and create conflicts.
I keep a 5s on iOS 8.4 and well .. I think that if I don't use the mobile as a game console (pley4) or as if I were with the pc, the battery lasts for a day. If it seems that as always it consumes something else but what I said, one day it lasts ...
Greetings and deactivate some things and follow this post that you will surely recover something from battery.
    Greetings, friends.

How many hours of use does 8.4.1 give you? By the way, don't expect 8.4.2 lol. This is the last one, now to wait for the GM and the final of iOS 9.
