Being optimistic: forever unlocking the iPhone 3G

You have to be optimistic The fact that Apple discontinues the updates of the iPhone 3G has a positive part, with the hack that allows you to install the baseband of the iPad 6.15.xx we will have the release of the iPhone 3G forever.

If you remember the only problem I had to install the iPad baseband on an iPhone was that iTunes no longer allowed updating to new firmwares, but if there will no longer be new firmwares then it does not matter that it does not allow updating. I recommended not to install the baseband of the iPad, but now it begins to make sense.

So being optimistic if Apple finally stops supporting the iPhone 3G users will have gotten something good, your phone can always be unlocked.

While the GPS does not work, it does not seem like a good idea to use this baseband if it is not essential

I know I'm a heavy x3 but what is the best way to upgrade to 4.2.1 from 4.1 on an iPhone 3G today with everything there is? I'm looking forward to it because my iPhone is a potato since I updated to 4.1. It goes very slowly, it hangs constantly ...

Would there even be some way to bring it back down to 3 o'clock ???

Right now (1 month ago I did it) is to get an ACTIVATED Custom Firmware of 4.2.1 that does not update the Baseband (as long as you have maintained 5.14.02 from FW4.0

The original activation of redsn0w has the problem of consuming a lot of battery. To do this, once the iphone is updated, you have to install
    SAM
    SAMPrefs
    Ultrasnow (for unlocking)

With that installed, you have to activate the SAM from the iPhone and run redsn0w to "Deactivate" the phone. On the next reboot, the locked phone will appear (emergency call). It will be enough to enter iTunes and connect the phone so that it is activated in an "official" way despite having a non-original SIM

Gnzl. Hello. I make a query. I have an iphone 3G with 05.13.04. There is no way to create a custom for 4.2.1 that maintains the baseband and thus not generate the problems that the baseband 06 (GPS) brings, nor the battery problems? Thanks a lot!

Yes, for everything you say there are tutorials on actualidad iphone

    Hello,

I was one of the dupes who updated to 4.2.1 which is going quite well and finally the baseband to 6.15 (the one on the ipad).

The latter would turn it back because the GPS does not work in addition to the slowness of 3G or WIFI, so be careful !. The ideal is firmware with 4.2.1 and a 5.14.02 baseband.

I am one of the thousands that has an iPhone 3G with Bootloader 5.09, I don't know anyone who has 5.08 which is the one that works with the Fuzzyband utility to download the baseband version (for example from 6.15 to 5.14.02) .

Anyway, be careful with updating to the ipad baseband ...

    regards

Let's see, someone explain this a little better since I personally have a 4G iphone used using it with simyo through ultrasn0w, and the utrasn0w makes the iphone go slower than normal, would this remove the need to have ultrasn0w?

    Thank you

But at the end of the contract with the operator (Movistar), it gives you the possibility to release your mobile. So Ke doesn't make sense.

Gnzl, I see that there is a tutorial to downgrade the firmware 06.15.00 but for the iphone 3g, could you tell me if it is applicable to the iphone 3gs?

    Thank you.

What I say is that the 3G is an old mobile…. why don't you release it by IMEI, and in case of being a foreigner, search in google, many pages support.

It is not necessary to waste time unlocking the iPhone with cydia and the baseband… ..
It works perfectly with all Iphones.
    MATERIAL:
    - 2 SIM CARDS (the one for your Iphone under contract) and one from another company
    -ITUNES (whatever works)
    -IPHONE
1.- Enter the card of another company in the iphone and unlock with PIN, (you will not find a signal)
2.- Connect the iPhone to Itunes
3.- It will do it all by itself (in less than 30 seconds it will tell you) THIS IPHONE HAS BEEN UNLOCKED CORRECTLY)
To prove there is nothing, right?

GNLZ, it is also possible to transfer the iphone3G directly, and the iphone to Android ... since Apple abandons them ...

    I meant 3G not 4G.

Could you get an ACTIVATED Custom Firmware of 4.2.1?
If so and it doesn't bother you, you can leave us a download link!
I have the 4.1 with 06.15, no battery problems, the gps is fine, the notifications come thanks to the tutor of a friend who uploaded it last month here it is called tutorial restore iphone with baseband 6.15 of the friend lizvic who is on youtube, If you want to see it, here is the link:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNlxxofJyEA

Now my question psycho_pata this tutorial is used to do it with the ACTIVATED Custom Firmware of 4.2.1, if so, comment it here and we leave the link of that custom, it will surely walk a little faster than 4.1

Hello!!!! The truth is that this is rather disconcerting (and demotivating !!) I have 3g version 4.1 and bb 5.14.02, what do you advise me ??? I really don't know what is better, the only thing that is clear to me is that I have an iPhone that thinks it is ipod touch !! 😛

  18.   Jose Luis said

Good, my opinion is to go down to 3.1.3 that works perfectly in the 3g, with the 6.15 and release it with ultrasnow, the bad thing that the gps does not work.
But the 3g works very fast

@Gnzl esi yes that is to see «The glass is half full»

    @sico_pata

Like Xavier Viten said, it would be cool, yeah. I have the baseband in 4-something, so as long as I keep a baseband that allows me to use ultrasn0w, I'm happy. The activation also does not matter to me. I have a movistar card here for these cases.

@ Gnzl: Can you put a link to the tutorial that says how to upgrade to 4.2.1 from 4.1 in 3G without updating the baseband? Or do you have to first follow a tutorial to raise it and then another to lower it?

  21.   Bryant said

@ Salmy: I also have my 3G with baseband 04.26.08, with firmware 3.1.2, it would be very good if there was a tutorial to upload to 4.2.1 without uploading baseband to be able to use the ultrasn0w, until I see a nice improvement on a firmware i don't rush to update. But since no more update is going to come out for 3G, let's go to the last IOS.

@ Gnzl: If there is a tutorial about this on the web, I have searched and searched but I cannot find it, could you provide us with the link… Very good work from all the web staff.

    Thanks in advance .. Greetings

Hi Xavier, thanks for the information you give us, but could you be a little more specific about the steps to follow to unblock by introducing another company's card and unblocking with a PIN, I don't understand that part.

    Thanks in advance.
    Regards!!

  23.   hhk said

@Dan: refers to the goals on the mobile phone the card of the original company for which the mobile was taken (with which the contract was made), remove the PIN so that it is working on the mobile and connect to iTunes.
Having passed the 2 years of the contract, it should be released on its own, and once released you can put any sim (yours that you always use)

  24.   Carlos Trejo said

I feel that Apple made some kind of deal so that those who wanted to release could no longer update through iTunes and since that was the case, they would not pay so much importance to Apple stop giving updates!

My experience. Iphone 3G. Baseband 05.13.04. From 3.0.1 go to 4.0.1. The slowness made me go back to 3.1.3. When 4.2.1 came out I was curious but since then almost all the information I saw was ipad baseband, sam, low battery, overheating ... I am not convinced by so much history (I depend on the unlock). I think those of us who depend on the unlock take great care with the baseband. I mean that for 4.2.1 a lot of information came out on how to upload based on the ipad and the consequences that it brought. The question is that yesterday I found a custom firmware 4.2.1, which kept the baseband for me and everything works perfectly. Youtube, GPS, and above all I am happy because the phone is just as fast as with 3.1.3 Of course deactivating wallpaper and multitasking. I think there is a lack of information in general for those of us who had an iPhone 3G with unlockable baseband from before. Or maybe I did not know how to search well. What I say for those who need it is easy to find that Custom, and at least for me, it goes 10 points. It is activated, normal battery consumption, does not heat. everything goes 100%. Hopefully it will serve someone! Regards.

Good morning everyone, I have the 3G with baseband 05.15.04 and my question is if you will ever get the unlock for this baseband or can I say goodbye to using it as a phone, because the mobile is from Movistar and I use Vodafone.
Can someone tell me about the unlocking by IMEI?
Thank you very much to all.

  27.   Alex said

Ximo, I am very afraid that your only free option is to upgrade to BB 6.15, with the loss of the 3G GPS (unlocks are not expected for 05.15.04 in the future, although perhaps the possibility of downgrading). It's a bit of a desperate solution, so imei unlocking doesn't seem like a bad option, although they will charge you around € 50… yourself.

  28.   Kris said

hhk, but does it have to be exactly the same card with which the iphone was activated ??? I mean, if it can be done with another sim card from the same company. Although I anticipate answering myself, because I don't think it's so easy ...
