Comparison of battery life with iOS 13.4.1, iOS 13.4 and iOS 13.3.1

IPhone battery

Last week, Apple released a new update for all devices managed by iOS. We are talking about the version 13.4.1, a version that corrected Errors with FaceTime video calls (more useful these days than ever) and problems with bluetooth connections that had been detected after launching iOS 13.4.

In terms of performance, this new version of iOS offers us no clue that encourages further testing. Nevertheless What about the battery? It would not be the first time that with the launch of a routine update, the battery consumption of the device skyrockets. To verify it, the guys from iAppleBytes have got down to work.

iAppleBytes has made a comparison regarding the battery life between iOS 13.4.1, iOS 13.4 and iOS 13.3.1, in almost the entire range of iPhone that Apple has launched on the market and where we can find from the iPhone SE to iPhone 11, through iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, iPhone 8 and iPhone XR.

An important aspect to take into account is that the comparison was made when this new update had already settled on the device (6 days had elapsed). It should be remembered that during the days following the installation of a new version of iOS, the system has to make a series of internal adjustments, so consumption is increased in most cases and is not real.

To carry out the test, the Geekbench application was used, specifically the function that allows measure battery life. The results were mixed depending on the iPhone model, but in most cases they were practically the same.

The iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 8 showed a battery life very similar to above  they had obtained with previous versions of iOS. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 11 have increased battery life compared to the previous version in a more than remarkable way, although the iPhone 11 to a greater extent.

The worst grade of all, has been obtained by the iPhone XR, a model that has received a significant impact on battery life after updating to iOS 13.4.1. This model shows 20% less battery life with iOS 13.4.1 than with iOS 13.4.
