CoolBooter allows you to use two versions of iOS on one iPhone

CoolBooter

Although I am one of those who prefer to have the operating system always updated and enjoy all the news in terms of functions and security, it is no secret that with each important update, those that change the first number, any iPhone or iPad loses a point in performance. But, what would you say to me if I told you that there is a tweak that will allow us to do what is known as dual-boot on iOS? His name is CoolBooter and aims to change the rules of the game.

The first thing we have to explain is what dual-boot is: it is a compound word that contains the words "boot" and "dual", which means that you can run two native operating systems on the same computer, that is, two independent operating systems between which there is no host system and another running within the first. Sounds good right? Not surprisingly, the name they have chosen for this utility is something like "Cool Launcher". What's not so cool is that only available for 32-bit devices, perhaps those who need it most at the moment.

CoolBooter now available for jailbroken devices

On a dual-boot computer, we will have to choose which operating system we run before I start one of them. For example, I have a PC with Ubuntu and Windows and when it starts I can choose to run one of the two operating systems, but if I don't touch anything, Ubuntu will start. Once inside Ubuntu, to enter Windows I have to restart the computer and choose the Microsoft system before it automatically enters Ubuntu.

Developers have long been able to run multiple versions of iOS on an Apple mobile device.

As we have already mentioned, CoolBooter is only available for 32-bit devices, but also only works on devices that have firmware keys available, which automatically leaves out some iPod Touches such as the fifth generation and the iPad mini. Compatible devices are:

  • iPhone 4
  • iPhone 4S (detects it as 64-bit).
  • iPhone 5
  • iPhone 5c
  • iPad 2
  • iPad 3
  • iPad 4

Best of all, CoolBooter, available in the repository http://coolbooter.com, It is very easy to use. Once installed, we will use the tool to install a second version of iOS from a very intuitive interface. From the same tool we will also start the secondary operating system. If you want to see how it works, you can do it from this link. What do you think?

Hello, Fernando and vitalis. Well, honestly, when I have been reading about the tweak, I thought that the absence of the iPhone 4S was a mistake and I have included it because it is 32-bit. Now, I don't know why it detects it as 64-bit, but it seems that it is indeed not supported (at least at the moment). I modify the information in the post.

      A greeting.
