A couple of years ago, Apple joined the Data Transfer project, a project designed so that users can freely move their data to other ecosystems. In this project, in addition to Apple, we also find Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Twitter. Good for users.
Since then, many of these companies have started allowing content to be exported or downloaded directly to users' computers. In this regard, Apple has just announced a new feature, a new feature that allows users to copy all photos and videos stored in iCloud to Google Photos.
This new feature is available from all of Europe, the United States, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Iceland, Switzerland, Norway and Liechtenstein and does not delete the content stored in iCloud, it just creates a copy in Google Photos.
Copy images and videos from iCloud to Google Photos
The first thing we must do is click on this link, where should we enter the data of our Apple account.
In the section Transfer a copy of your data, click on Request the transfer of a copy of your data.
Then it will show the total space that our photos and videos occupy. In the section Choose where you want to transfer your photos, click on the drop-down and select Google Photos (at the moment there are no other options such as Microsoft's OneDrive).
Finally, we choose the type of content that we want to copy: Photos and / or Videos.
In the next section, you inform us that we must have enough storage space in Google Photos to be able to copy, otherwise all content will not be copied.
In the next step, we enter the data of the Google account where we want to make a copy security of all content available in iCloud. Next, we must give Apple Data and Privacy permission to add the content to Google Photos.
The last step invites us to confirm that we want to make the transfer of all the content available in iCloud that we have selected to Google Photos.
What content is transferred?
Smart albums, live photos, photo streaming content, some metadata, and some RAW photos cannot be transferred, but formats like .jpg, .png, .webp, .gif, some RAW files, .mpg, .mod, .mmv, .tod, .wmv, .asf, .avi, .divx, .mov, .m4v , .3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .m2t, .m2ts, .mts and .mkv are compatible with this copy system.
How long does the process take?
This process can take from 3 to 7 days. Once it has been completed, we will receive a confirmation message from our email account associated with the Apple ID.
