Currently in the App Store we can find a large number of applications that allow us create fantastic videos simply with our iPhone. Replay is one of them. But if we want to edit any part of the videos or increase some area of them, we are forced to transfer the video to our PC or Mac unless we use the Video Crop & Zoom application.
Crop & Zoom allows us to select a part of the video that we want to highlight removed the rest of the image. For example, we have recorded our young son playing from afar, but we cannot easily see his movements. Thanks to this application we can highlight the area of the video where our child is, eliminating the areas that do not interest us.
Obviously the result of the video will preserve the resolution used to crop the image. If we have recorded in 1920 x 1080 and cut half the image, the result will offer us a resolution of just half. The operation of the application is very simple. Once we have opened the application, we just have to select the video from which we want to extract an area.
Then we will click in the upper central part of the image on the text Proportion: so that the application offers us the proportion that we want to trim: 16 × 9, 3 × 2, 4 × 3, square, 8 × 10, 5 × 7, 4 × 6, 3 × 5, original… If we do not want to set a proportion, we can select the option Video dimension: 640 × 480, 1280 × 720, 720 × 540…
Once we have selected either the proportion or the dimension of the video on the screen, a box will appear with the dimensions of the area to be cut. Clicking on the crop image will open a new window where we can move the area to be cropped. If we rotate with both fingers on the image we can rotate the cropping area, very useful for recordings that have not come out level.
To see if the selected area corresponds to the area that interests us, click on the Play button located in the lower left corner. If we liked the result, click on the upper right button to create the new video. Once created we can save it on the camera roll or share it with any application messaging that we have installed.
