Despite what Schiller says, Apple is also wrong

This morning we published an article in which we told you how Phil Schiller, Apple's VP of Marketing, published a series of tweets on his personal account in which He was telling us the correct way to plural the names of Apple products. The answer he gave was that the proper names of the devices should not be pluralized, going from saying “I have several iPads” to “I have several iPad devices”, for example.

However, digging a bit into the press releases that Apple has published in the section of your website intended for this, We see that not even from the company itself they have managed to reach consensus with the whole world. And it is that it is not necessary to go very deep to find communications by the press department of the company where the names are put in plural of the devices.

As you can see in the images below, we have been able to see how the company wrote the names in the plural, despite the fact that this is the wrong way of saying it, according to Schiller. However, it's funny how we have only found references in plural to the iPad, the only device that seems to enjoy this special treatment from the company.

In any case, the last reference that we can find -by Apple- regarding device names in plural refers to the year 2012 (in press releases, at least), so Yes, it seems to be a fact that this rule is the one that the company considers correct. Discrepancies, be that as it may, are served between all users and online media. And you, do you usually use the plural to name Apple products or are you from #TeamSchiller?

Of course, that rule only applies to plurals in English. It would be good to check the North American sites to see if they have truly broken that rule.

As I indicate in the article, the last "mistake" was found in 2012. From then on, plurals are no longer seen. And yes, in Apple's information in English there are also cases in similar years. All the best.

I am with Schiller. I have always doubted, but for example:

    -2 Honda Jan-That-Erre (NSR) and not Jan-That-Erre.
-3 Renault Megane, and not Meganes.
-5 Samsung Galaxy that-seven (S7), and not "those sevens"
    -2 Ferrari efe-forty (f40), and not efe-forty.
