What is the "WPS" connection? Wifi Protected Setup is a system that allows the connection of devices to a WiFi network without having to enter the network key, but by pressing a button on a device and another button on the router they are connected. An easy and secure way to connect to a local network, but in the case of the Airport or TimeCapsule is somewhat hidden within the Airport Utility. If you look for the "WPS" button on the Apple router you will not find it, you have to run the Airport utility on your computer to use this quick connection function. Once the Airport Utility is open (Inside Applications> Utilities) we go to the upper menu and click on «Base Station», selecting the option «Add WPS printer ...».

At that time we will have to choose how we will do the configuration:

  • PIN: the printer will offer us a PIN that we must enter in the next window
  • First try: the first printer that tries to connect will be added to your network, with no PIN or other requirements.

After these simple steps already you will have your printer connected to your WiFi network, and if it is also compatible with AirPrint, you can use it from any of the iOS devices to print documents, photos or anything you want.
