Edge / GPRS not working for you? Take a look at this if you have Jailbreak

Until a month ago I had never used mobile Internet on my iPhone; As I told you, I just did a portability to Simyo and now I enjoy free 300mb per month of mobile Internet on my first generation iPhone. But in the comment I made about how the portability to Simyo was (which by the way, I still can't call or navigate. Thanks Simyo…), I didn't tell you something.

To configure Simyo's mobile Internet, simply insert "gprs-service.com" in the "access point name" box of the settings, but after entering the address, restarting the iPhone, restoring the default settings, re-inserting the address and restart it again, my iPhone still did not access the Internet. Consulting in forums I saw that there was an error with the switch (toggle) from SBSetitings, and that I had to disable and enable Edge, reboot, and it should already work ... But it didn't work.

By chance I came across a tweak in Cydia that installed an old version of the toggle de Edge of the SBSettings. This old switch didn't really disable the Edge connection, but instead set a non-existent IP address as the access point, so the iPhone wasn't consuming a single kilobyte. Starting from a certain version (I've been looking for, but can't find which one), SBSettings integrated a new toggle (I have assumed, as I am sure I did not install it myself) to enable / disable the mobile data network (although according to the description, it does it the same way as above), so you probably uninstalled the old one and installed the new one, without taking into account that I had the old one turned off, and it stayed that way, for a great season, until finally I wanted to use the iPhone's mobile connection and I couldn't.

I just had to install the old one toggle, which we can find in Cydia as «Edge Toggle» (has as description: «The old EDGE toggle for SBSettings ... ») And activate it. After this we can delete it and use the new toggle or use this one, although I have to say that neither of them have worked very well for me (I will do more tests as soon as Simyo returns the line to me).

Probably very few of you have experienced this error, which is also fixed by restoring the device, but I hope it is at least useful for someone.

Well, the truth is that I have had a great season without it, and without any Cydia app, so you can live without Jailbreak xD.

I with the 4 since it came out I have not done jailbreak yet on this phone it seems much less necessary, sbsettings that was indispensable in the 3G now with the speed of the 4, it does not take long to enter the menus.
I have tethering, now you can edit the tones from the mobile, multitasking, sms character counter…. The only thing is the installous, but hey more than anything is used to download games and I do not play on the mobile

I have a 3G with SBSettings and I switched to Simyo. I followed the steps you have on the blog to configure the mobile data network and it has always been movies for me. I have configured the iPhone with PUSH in the mail and in the weather so that it is updated every 15 minutes and I pay at the end of the month at most two euros. Compared to VOMISTAR,… a bargain. I am delighted in Simyo

I really appreciate this post. The internet via EDGE works again in my 2G. That while I make the waiting list for the iPhone 4 in Mexico, there is not one in the country.

In my case, I have the IP4 and I have simyo after having done a Jail and ultrasnow on a movistar terminal. My problem is that I can't send mms. I do not know the reason and in Simyo they do not give me a solution in this regard. I have put and tested the simyo parameters for mms a thousand times differently and I have not managed to send any mms. The shipping time always expires. Everything else works well for me (Internet, sms, etc ..) I really don't know what to do. See if someone could help me.

How fast are you going with simyo?

For me it goes to 0,9 and 0,3 up and down, with a repeater quite close.

Hello everyone. I suffered from this same problem about a year ago with an IPHONE 3Gs, until I found this perfect Toggle. About two weeks ago I have gone with the IPHONE 4 version 4.2.1. I have called Simyo several times until I finally found someone who really helped me. Everything consists of carrying out the following process:
SETTINGS -> OPERATOR -> [There you will have it in automatic] search for SIMYO and ok
    Even the FACETIME works,

I hope it helps you. Greetings
