A few weeks ago WhatsApp launched its web version to be able to use its instant messaging application from any computer. But, as usual lately, the Facebook-owned app completely ignores iOS users who can't access this service. As always the Jailbreak comes to the rescue, and from today there is a new tweak in Cydia that allows you to use WhatsApp Web even if you have an iPhone. Its name is WhatsAppWebEnabler and it is completely free. We give you the details below.
You have the WhatsAppWebEnabler tweak available completely free of charge on the BigBoss repo. Once installed and after doing a mandatory respring, you must access the System Settings and in the tweak menu click on Entable / Disable to activate it. Once this is done, it is time to go to WhatsApp Settings, within the application, and select "WhatsApp Web".
Now we must use the Chrome browser on our computer (it is not compatible with other browsers) and go to the address http://web.whatsapp.com, A QR code will appear that we must focus with our iPhone. It will automatically detect it and we will have our WhatsApp Web available.
There are several important points to remember of this WhatsApp web service:
- You must have WhatsApp Active on your iPhone. If you turn off the iPhone, the service will end up deactivating. This is a significant drain on battery and data.
- Remember that Apple does not allow this function because it does not ensure that your privacy is guaranteed.
- Remember that this is a Cydia tweak and that this further increases the possibility that your data is not secure.
With all this clear, each one is responsible for the use they make of this tweak. If you allow me a tip, from the moment I have verified that it works and I have obtained the images to make the article, I have deleted it from my device. We will continue to wait for WhatsApp to release something official and decent for iOS.
it won't let me scan the code, the whatsapp app crashes
Forgive By now the new bug-fixing version (1.0.2) should be available. It will have taken longer than I thought.
It is already available but you have to use the repo http://www.yourepo .com / repo / markk in this repo version 1.0.2 is available
I don't work for the FBI, so if the tweak is malicious it's fine for me. Plus, BigBoss is legit
By turning off the iPhone, do you mean turning it off completely and turning it on in sleep mode, and when you turn off the computer and turn it on again, do you have to scan the code again?
Exactly, I mean the idle screen.
Regarding starting the browser again, I have tried closing it, but not turning it off. There is a check to keep the session open, in principle it should work.
Hi guys
I just installed version 1.0.2 and it happens to me like another user, it hangs when scanning the QR code….
I also just updated and it hangs when I take the photo. I have an iphone 6 and the latest version of whatsapp.
I want to make it work on my iPad as it can
I already download Google chorme on my iPad but it does not want to enter the whatsapp page that I do
the one from the Bigboss repo gets caught, they have to download it from the official repo, yourepo.com/repo/markk, it works, yes, but come on, you have to have the phone with the screen on, so it's not valid for nothing, if you block it you can't send messages, hahaha… well, what a story, to have the screen on I answer from my mobile
The tweak in BigBoss (1.0.2) is already updated and it works fine
The same thing happens with all versions, Luis… the moment you turn off the screen, it disconnects. Sometimes it takes seconds, and sometimes it takes 10min, but it ends up disconnecting. Hopefully the developer can fix it.
I don't mean that, I mean blocking with the QR.
Having the phone on is because of the botch WhatsApp has done with this web version. It works like this.
OK, I had misunderstood you then.
I have had absolutely no problems with Wpp Web on my Xperia Z1, so I attribute the problem to some incompatibility due to the background app update system used by iOS.
It is one thing to have the phone turned on (since that is the way the Web system works), and another thing that it does not work with the phone at rest, which does not happen with Android. I am with Platinum and I imagine that it is due to some incompatibility.
You have not had any problem with your xperia z1 because it is not IOS, it is android, the problem is with the iphone
I mean that I have not had any problem with disconnections when blocking the terminal, so it is not a WhatsApp Web failure, as Luis says, but a failure of incompatibility. This is what I am trying to explain.
Jimmy is right. This is not about any incompatibility or anything the developer has to fix. As WhatsApp Web works, it is necessary that the screen of your iPhone is active, because when inactivated, iOS in a short time leaves only some active processes to save battery. WhatsApp Web uses your phone as a server, it is a direct connection from your computer to your mobile. On Android I don't know how multitasking works, but on iOS it is like that.
I answer it here because he does not let me reply directly to Luis in his last comment. That is exactly what I mean by incompatibility …… as Whatsapp Web is assembled, it IS NOT COMPATIBLE with the process method used by iOS. I think it's not so difficult to understand, in fact you are all right, you just don't understand me ...
That is why I say that in Android it does not give that problem, because it is a different multitasking concept, you can choose if the processes are always active (not only for notifications, which is how iOS works). The truth, I doubt that something can be achieved, I do not think it is easy to leave the app active in iOS so easily; and if I can achieve it, I imagine that it would affect the performance of the terminal a lot.
You cannot use WhatsApp Web on iPad to use it you need a computer.
After the update (which I had to download and install manually from a developer link on Twitter), it works correctly, but it loses connection with the phone when you lock it ... I hope they can fix it, because it is a chore to have to be with the phone screen on as long as you want to use it.
the address of the whatsapp web is wrong
To avoid that, install Insomnia from cydia, it will enable Wi-Fi permanently even if you lock your iPhone, although it will consume a lot of battery. Greetings.
I've tried the latest version of Insomnia Pro on my iPhone 6+ and it doesn't work either 🙁
confirmed that it works with the official package.
