The eSIM comes to the new iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR for everyone

Another of the great novelties that cannot go unnoticed at the presentation yesterday of these new iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR, is the arrival of the eSIM that allows everyone to enjoy the dual SIM in the new iPhone in this case Nano SIM and eSIM.

All this will provide users who travel the most or those who need to manage two lines at work an extra comfort. The good thing is that we will be able to enjoy a couple of operators on all new iPhone models, this is thanks to the eSIM, which is also known as a virtual SIM. As well it must be made clear that there is a small print and as such, it is important that we read it before.

Dual Stand-by for Dual SIM function

With this name Apple baptizes its dual SIM service in the new iPhone and it does not mean another thing than the two cards that we have in the iPhone will be active simultaneously. In this way, when we call with one it will remain as the main card and at the time of switching to the other it will change automatically. In countries like China, Apple's iPhone Dual SIM will integrate two physical cards, but in the rest of the countries an eSIM is added inside, a card that some iPad models already carry and obviously the Apple Watch with LTE.

The game is on operators

And it is that Apple announced in the keynote some of the operators that already have this service so that as soon as the new iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR go on sale, users can contract these Dual SIM services. Although as we said at the beginning, this will not happen in all countries and that is why we have to look on the Apple website and read what we said at the beginning of this article, which is what It would be the small print that appears on the Spanish website:

The eSIM will be available at the end of the year via a software update. The use of an eSIM requires a mobile data plan (which may include special portability and roaming conditions, even when the stay has expired). ESIM is not compatible with all carriers. ESIM may be disabled when purchasing iPhone through certain carriers. Check the details with your operator

So the steps for now are simple and We will be waiting for the update to be able to use these eSIMs in our new iPhone at least with Vodafone, which is the international operator that appears in the list of available ones that Apple showed, although the number of operators that offer this service may increase. For now it will be time to use the current Nano SIM to make calls and have data on our devices.
