Everki Laptop Messenger Bag with iPad Pocket, Review

If you are like me, who usually carry my iPad to and from work or travel, along with my laptop, this accessory should be essential for you. I like to have both devices with me when I am at the office or on the go and have been looking for a good bag with specific storage slots for each device.

I am a frequent traveler, so I am very picky when it comes to my bags and travel habits, you just have to ask any of my co-workers and they will tell you that I am very specific with bags when I have to fly for a business trip. So when I heard that Everki had just released their new Messenger Bag Laptop Travel Bag with iPad Pocket, I was immediately interested and wanted to take a closer look.

The Laptop Messenger Travel Bag is an attractive black bag that is large enough for a 15,6-inch laptop plus its accessories. I had a chance to test it with my 15-inch MacBook Pro and the slot for the computer was lined with a soft microfiber padding to prevent scratching my laptop inside the bag. The interior material is a bright orange color which is a good choice as it makes it child's play to find the smallest items in the bag thanks to the contrasting colors. This is the same approach to high-end camera bags and is perfect for quickly finding the little accessories when looking inside the bag.

Everki has added a special iPad slot to the inside of the bag next to the laptop slot. The slot is lightly padded and features the same bright orange microfiber found in the laptop compartment. This slot is ideal if you don't use another bag for your iPads as well as the padded compartment protects and keeps the iPad screen free of marks. The size of the slot is perfect for the iPad and is still large enough to fit an iPad with a standard or Case-type sleeve.

The Everki Laptop Messenger Travel Bag has bulky internal space compared to a typical 15-inch laptop bag. Magazines, books, accessories and even a light sweater or jacket can be stored and there is still room to spare. The bag has an internal zippered compartment that is ideal for accessory cables or power supplies. Under the front flap of the bag, you will find a series of small compartments perfect for business cards, USB keys, pens, passport and a phone. The bag has a large slot on the outside that can be used for magazines or a book. The bag uses a special closure system to secure the outer lid. While the zippers are very durable, it might take an extra second or two to open and close the bag compared to the more common plastic snap closure found on most backpacks or laptop bags.

Some features that I would like to see included in the bag are a zippered compartment on the outer front flap of the bag in which you can quickly find airline tickets, candy, keys, money or other small things when touring the airport, without having to actually open the bag. The slot on the back is fine, but it cannot be closed completely and if small objects are stored they tend to fall when we pass the bag through security controls at airports. I would also like it to have some small mesh compartments inside the bag for cables, headphones or other small accessories.

Everki's Laptop Messenger with iPad Pocket is a good choice for anyone who wants to get a laptop bag with a storage slot for their iPad. The bag looks good, feels comfortable on the shoulder, and offers good protection for your laptop and iPad when you're in town or traveling for business or pleasure.

Cons of the accessory:

It would have to have more storage spaces and more pockets.

In summary, if you are looking in the market for a bag for your laptop and an iPad, the Everki Laptop Messenger would definitely be a good choice. With a comfortable design and plenty of storage space, I think it's a great option for students and professionals looking for a way to carry their laptop and iPad in style.
