Evernote will not enforce changes to its privacy policy and they will not read our notes

Every time a service makes a change in the terms of service, depending on the type of change, users begin to express their discomfort, rarely has there been a change for the better in the terms of a service or in the policy of Privacy. A clear example is the changes to the WhatsApp terms of service in which we were required to give our consent for our data to be shared with different group companies if we wanted to continue using the application. As we all know, the company has been forced to modify them again without including this option. But today we are talking about an application not used by the masses, but that allows us to store both personal and work information: Evernote, information that we do not want to share with third parties unless we do it personally.

A few days ago the company announced a change in its privacy policy in which it stated that as of January 23, any employee of the company could have access to the notes stored in Evernote. Logically the users expressed their discomfort and began to look for alternatives in the market, very good alternatives by the way and cheaper than Evernote.

Given the poor reception that this news has had among the millions of users of the company, Evernote has been forced to modify the privacy policy again eliminating the clause that allowed company employees to search through the notes of all its users. In fact, the company has released a statement clarifying this and other aspects so that users remain calm:

  • Evernote employees do not read and will not read the notes of users without their express permission
  • Evernote comply with the law in a way that maintains the privacy of customer data
  • Our "Three Data Protection Laws" remain intact: your data belongs to you, is protected and is transferable

Privacy has become one of the priorities for many users, above all, when we talk about internet services, where privacy begins to be above the free service.
