How to install iOS 7 and that your iPhone does not die in the attempt

recovery-mode

Two days. This is the time left for iOS 7 to be released official form and everyone can enjoy it (although those who have wanted to have already been able to have the GM installed for a week). I know many people who will go crazy to update their device as soon as it comes out, so I leave you some tips to take into account before doing so.

When installing iOS 7 there can be two cases: that we already have iOS 7 GM installed, or that we have iOS 6. It is recommended when installing iOS 7 or any operating system is to do it right from the startObviously, nothing will happen if we do not do it, nor will our iPhone 'die', but it is more than advisable to do it this way. Let's see how to do it.

First of all, in any case, I recommend wait until iOS 7.0.1 is released (at least) to make the jump to iOS 7. I say this because with subsequent updates they will correct things such as battery performance, which really in the GM version shows that it pulls more battery than iOS 6, so if you are not very impatient, wait for an update to be released with improvements and bug fixes to finally install iOS 7 on your device.

If we currently have the GM version on our device and we plan to update to the official version on Wednesday, I recommend that restore between today and tomorrow to iOS 6 so that when you install iOS 7 you do it from scratch and the iPhone is really clean. This will make the optimization of the operating system much higher.

How to go back to iOS 6 from iOS 7? Very easy. What we are going to do is put our device in recovery modeTo do this, we must connect it to iTunes and simultaneously hold down the power and start buttons until the screen goes black. When the screen turns off, we must not stop holding the buttons. After a few seconds the Apple logo will appear, when this happens we have to release the power button but keep pressing the start button for a few more seconds until the iTunes logo appears, that's it. Now we go to iTunes and we click 'recover', it will automatically install iOS 6. With this operating system all we have to do is wait for the device to notify us on Wednesday that the Official version and install it in the usual way. If you plan to return to iOS 6 after Wednesday you should know that it will not be possibleas Apple will stop signing this software.

For those of you who have iOS 6 and have never installed iOS 7, I recommend the same, restore. In this way we will guarantee that iOS 7 perform better. It may seem a bit cumbersome to have to leave the iPhone clean, but it is much better for our device. Anyway, it is advisable to make a backup before.

For this reason, I am in the process of returning to iOS 6. but unfortunately it does not allow me to install 6.1.2 only 6.1.3, iOS 7 is very nice and all but old media devices will not hold it at all.

If someone knows how to install 6.1.2 it would be good

      regards

If your iphone has the shsh of ios 6.1.2 you can do it with tinyumbrella since apple stopped signing it for a long time since it only signs the most recent until Wednesday it is 6.1.3

Would something happen restoring after day D? I would directly install ios 7 instead of ios 6, n?

having previously the GM of ios 7.

    1.    louis del barco said

Exactly, you won't be able to go back to iOS 6 once iOS 7 is released.

      1.    iphonemac said

And is there any difference in going back to iOS 6 or doing clean restore directly from GM, and reinstalling official iOS 7? Thank you.

Having the GM currently, if I restore after the 18 from iTunes, will the full version be downloaded to iTunes to restore on the iPhone or will it simply update from the copy that is in the memory of the phone?, I do not know if I explain myself, what I want is to re-download the official version on the pc and completely crush the GM

Hello good, my question is regarding the backup. If I do it with iOS6, it won't let me put it in restored iOS7, right?

    1.    iphonemac said

Of course, the backups are compatible regardless of the iOS version.

      1.    dani said

That's not true at all. A backup of ios7 does not work if you restore the iphone and go back to ios6.

  5.   popi said

And if you leave it clean, do you lose all the information? such as telephones?

    1.    louis del barco said

yes, that's why it is advisable to save a backup

  6.   KyrosBlanck said

And I can't update directly from iOS 7 beta 6 without going back to iOS 6?

    1.    louis del barco said

In theory you should be able to, but as I say, the iPhone will be better restoring

      1.    KyrosBlanck said

The thing is, you're not supposed to save anything you did with iOS 7, right? and the truth, I do not want to lose information xD

  7.   iphonemac said

Restore, leave iPhone as new, install iOS 7 and then restore backup? Or later set it up as new again? Because in this way we would lose notes, messages, chats, etc ...
    Thank you!

    1.    louis del barco said

Set it as new or not depends on whether you are willing to lose everything.

      1.    iphonemac said

Hi Luis, I already know that. My question was whether clean restore is the same as setting it up as new, or installing iOS 7 and then restoring the backup. Thanks.

  8.   Dani said

I don't understand having to go back from IOS 7 GM to IOS 6 to do a clean restore. If we restore directly to iOS 7 Final Version, wouldn't it be the same?

I have GM installed, but if I want to Downgrade I can't because iTunes doesn't support my iPhone, how can I do it without losing anything.

    1.    iphonemac said

I imagine that we will also have to download the iTunes version.

    2.    louis del barco said

You can not. You have to restore the iPhone to 6.1.4 and once there it lets you restore the last copy you made (hopefully a week ago before installing GM)

    3.    iphonemac said

I just read, that simply by clicking on restore from iTunes, when iOS 7 comes out on the 18th, the official version will be installed. No more. If we do not restore and configure as new, we will have the clean restoration. Greetings!

I have a question that is never very clear to me.
If I make a backup copy, then I restore the iPhone and when iTunes opens I ask it to configure it as a new phone, do I have to reconfigure absolutely everything (contacts, email accounts, third-party applications ...) from scratch?

    1.    iphonemac said

Yes, but it is what they recommend, I think.

      1.    Dani said

What they recommend is that you restore the iphone to install ios7 from scratch but then you can configure it with your backup. It is better that, than installing ios7 having ios6.

  11.   Diego Martínez said

And can not update directly from the iPhone?

  12.   christian29 said

I have many doubts the truth. I have 6.1.3 on a 4S and I can't wait to install IOS7. My idea was to install it from the mobile as soon as it comes out as I did to go from IOS 5 to IOS 6. You comment that it is better to restore, and leave it as it is from the factory, but apart from the contacts, sms ... would I also lose the applications? The truth is that my 4S takes a while that is not as fine as it should and the notifications have been 2 or 3 weeks that sound twice

    Regards!

Does anyone know when iTunes 11.1 for Windows will be released?

this afternoon for sure together with iOS 7. Greetings!

I installed the iOS7 through my cell phone and when I finished the update it asked me to connect it to iTunes, the problem is that when I connected my device to the pc, it did not recognize it, I tried everything. I honestly don't know what to do

It's a complete mess ... I had iOS 7GM installed ... (I had some interface errors of the system itself) when the official iOS 7 came out, what I did as they say was to restore and configure as new, so far so good, when restoring my copy of security that I did while in iOS 7 GM all the info was installed well but with them the same interface errors (ahem: the background blur or transparency of the notification system disappears, everything turns black nothing more, something ugly), well what I know what should be done is an installation from 0, configure as NEW, and not restore backup, just put our icloud account and with them all our info will return, THE PROBLEM is that I need to save my text messages, which ICLOUD does nothing but iMessages, damn, now I don't know what to do !!!! lose my text messages from 6 years ago or continue with the iOS 7 interface error !!!!! = (
