Apple's next products would be submersible thanks to HZO

HZO

At Mobile World Congress We discovered many interesting ideas that revealed what the future of technology will be like in both the short and long term, we could see how in 2016 the cameras in smartphones are undergoing great and important changes, and how the mobiles of the future could have screens flexible and even include materials like graphene.

But one of the technologies that most caught our attention was the one proposed by HZO, a proposal that has been underway since 2012 and that is improving every year. A proposal that, given its age, the most sensible thing to do is to think that there is little time left to be launched on the mass market, and basically that is the information that we get and that we present to you in this rumor, the collaboration between Apple and HZO.

We were talking with one of the managers of the HZO stand, a stand that we had already visited the previous year and that arouses our interest in a very striking way with its characteristic show of force when immerse an entire television in a fishbowl and turn it on underwater, demonstrating that its technology works flawlessly and is simply invisible to the end user.

Chatting with the person in charge we were able to ask him about HZO, what is the protection method they use, how it is applied to the technology and what degree of protection it is capable of granting, and our questions were answered.

HZO

HZO is a hydrophobic nano-film that allows the devices treated with this to be completely immune to liquids, and is that it not only protects the circuits against water but also protects against corrosion or oil.

The HZO protection must be applied during the manufacturing process using large ovens that distribute this product in the form of steam for a total and uniform coverage of the final product, the cost of applying this product on, for example, an iPhone would be barely 2USD per unit, a really ridiculous cost.

The degree of protection you get HZO exceeds commonly known standards, and it is that it far exceeds the IPX8 certification, this means that the product itself (HZO) far exceeds the meter, 2 3 and those who are deep and it does not have an established time limit that measures its ability to resist under liquids , in the words of the representative himself "the limit is not set by our product, before being affected by water as such, the device would be affected by the pressure it exerts on it." And it is also capable of lasting up to 15 years when applied, a useful life much higher than that expected of our smartphone.

After the conversation, the representative explained to us that although the cost per device was not the problem, the infrastructure necessary to apply this product to Apple devices required an investment of time and a lot of money in Apple's production lines, but also he confessed to us that have been dealing with Apple and Samsung for a long time.

To our amazement and ending the conversation he told us that there is a product by Apple that will incorporate this technology and that will be released in the coming months, but no, unfortunately it will not be the iPhone SE, but they told us about an accessory, specifically headphones, will they be the long-awaited AirPods that are expected in September?

A wireless and submersible device as the first sample of the future of this technology, but that was not all, our curiosity did not stop there and we asked him that by the time we have an Apple smartphone with this technology included, if there was to be one, question to which they answered us that in a period of 1 to 2 years it would be released on the market the first iPhone treated with HZO.

We have no way of checking if the data provided to us is correct, it is not the first time that rumors have been made about HZO and Apple, although the first one that a company official declares it to us openly, any change in the plans could affect this information, especially knowing that Apple does not officially confirm rumors, what we do know is that it was somewhat reluctant to give us more information (as if this were little news).

Having said all this, we can only delight our imagination with the following question, what kind of accessories or devices will Apple bring to the market by integrating HZO technology for the first time?

They are taking time for the Watch, and I wonder if it will also withstand the salty water in the sea which is just where no device can stand as it is so corrosive, although I imagine it will. What a marvel of invention I hope they apply it now.

Salt water, oil and whatever, according to what they told us in the MWC, HZO protection is not only against liquids but also against corrosives 😀 I'm with you, hopefully we'll see it soon ^^
