Face ID and Touch ID support comes to IDs through Safari with a new API

Just three days ago we covered the inaugural Keynote of the WWDC 2020, a presentation where the guys from Cupertino revealed all the news about the new operating systems of the bitten apple brand. A Keynote that is followed by endless talks and conferences dedicated to developers so that they know everything they can do with the new systems and thus prepare for the future. Some very interesting talks that for the first time are open for free to the public. In one of these, Apple tells us that Safari now has Face ID and Touch ID support. After the jump we tell you what this means and everything that this new technology can benefit us.

They tell it in the talk «Meet Face ID and Touch ID for the web«, and now we can use the Face ID or Touch ID of our iPhone or iPad to verify that it is us. We give you an example: many of you have active the two step verificationThis means that the first step will be to enter your username and password to register on any page, and the second step will be to receive a code via SMS to the mobile phone that we have registered. With this new verification through Face ID or Touch ID, now we can use this technology to verify that we are the same way we did with sms. A new possibility for which Apple has created an API that web developers can integrate into their platforms.

A much more secure technology than sms, in the end a text message is supposed to be received on the phone of the person who wants to log, but How many times have we seen cases of phishing attempts through these practices with websites that request the codes to steal data from you. Or worse, someone could change the registered phone to one they have in their possession and thus impersonate us… With Face ID or Touch ID there is no doubt that it will be us and our privacy will be protected.
