Facebook wants to offer a new type of exclusive content from your video platform to add yet another source of income. It should be remembered that Twitter worked together with Apple to launch an application for Apple TV designed to broadcast NFL games among other types of content, so again the idea of Facebook is to copy its small rival on social networks.
The anonymous sources that are working on this project affirm that Facebook wants to put its head fully into the world of TV by offering premium content, content that could be shared and viewed from the mobile application or set-top boxes. The newspaper states that Facebook is interested in broadcasting videos of more than 10 minutes in length created specifically for the social network and that focus on sports and television shows.
The social network wants to gain a foothold in the time Americans spend every day watching television, four hours, offering different and quality content.
In recent years, Apple has been investing in its video platform, promoting short videos in addition to the capabilities to broadcast live video from anywhere we are. After these years of experience, the social network is ready to take the great leap that starts offering quality content of its own or purchased, in addition to offering a daily schedule. This application could be released later this year, as Facebook has been working on it for more than six months.
