Facebook updates with support for multitasking

Facebook

Facebook, as a good social network worth its salt, wants its users to spend as much time as possible on the app, without leaving it, in order to focus more ads based on the data that it collects daily from all the users of this social network that, despite the privacy scandals, continues to do what it wants.

With iOS 9 multitasking support arrived, a function that allowed us to open two different split-screen applications on our iPad screen. It took almost 5 years for Mark Zuckerberg's social network to implement this feature in its iOS app.

With iOS 13, Apple gave developers more freedom by allowing them to use two windows of the same application through the Split View feature for iPadOS. Now that Apple has expanded the capabilities of the Split View function, it seems that Facebook has had no choice but to offer support for this function, we do not know if out of shame or for not continuing to be ridiculous.

But the most curious thing of all is that this function has reached the application directly, without this function appear in the application notes. Coincidentally, after installing version 269 of the application, the Facebook application is now compatible not only with the Split View function, but also with the Slide Over function, a function that allows us to quickly switch between the applications that are open in the background.

For now, and probably for several years, Facebook will not have the slightest intention of adding mouse support, much less allowing the possibility of opening two windows of the same application, dragging and dropping Facebook content to another application ... Version number 269 currently available on the App Store requires iOS 10 or higher.
