Facebook messenger updates with voice messages

Audio notes on Facebook Messenger

Facebook update your app Facebook Messenger so that users can send voice messages. The update is available for iOS and allows you to send audio messages from one minute long recorded with the mobile itself.

Another interesting change that it adds, only reaches a small group of users, is a limited test that enables the possibility of performing phone calls from the application to other Facebook contacts who have the program installed.

La experiment is open only to users of Facebook Messenger for iOS in canada, but if it works well in a future update that may change the market for VoIP calls in a radical way.

News of the version 2.1:

  • Send a voice message when you have more to say.
  • Use Messenger to call your friends for free (for now only in Canada).
  • Resolution of errors of previous versions.

Hitherto Skype dominates this segment, with millions of users around the world, but, if Facebook arrives with its almost one billion users, things will change and the competition will be tough. The application would allow to do calls via WiFi or data plan, depending on signal availability. So far there are no user reports, but it is likely that Facebook uses a technology that, like skype, improves the audio quality compared to a regular phone call.

You can download this application from Facebook if you still do not have it from the App Store in the link below. Is Delivery to Italy takes one or two business days.

But let's see, the technology that Facebook uses for chat video calls is provided by Skype !! It is clear that they work together.
