Once again, the rumors have not failed: Facebook has been working on the 360 degree video integration in its News Feed and this new option will be launched in the coming months, according to official sources of the social network. 360-degree videos are becoming fashionable at the moment and one of the main platforms to promote this new format, which takes us fully into the action, has been YouTube.
In fact, the operation of the 360-degree videos on Facebook will be very similar to what we find on the Google video platform. Any video that has been shot in this format may be reproduced from our News Feed, using the iPhone. To see what is hiding around us, all we have to do is move the iPhone from one side to the other until it covers a full 360-degree angle. We can also use touch gestures on the device screen to move the camera.
360 degree videos can also be viewed from the computer, using the mouse (by clicking and dragging). Unfortunately, playing these videos will not work in Safari or Internet Explorer. In addition, Android devices will be the first to benefit from this novelty, while users of the iOS ecosystem will have to wait longer.
In this way, Facebook is preparing for the definitive arrival of virtual reality. We remember that the social network became the owner of Oculus.
