One of the great news that have come from the hand of iOS 14 are the widgets. Many are the applications that today have been updated to add support to these customization elements that display information about the application without having to interact with it.
At least on iOS, since on Android, widgets do not have the limitation that has been imposed on this functionality. A clear example of this limitation We find it in the first images of the widget on which Spotify is working and of which we already have the first images.
This widget, available in two sizes, offers us, on the one hand, a direct access to play music and podcast. On the other hand, we have another larger widget, widget that will show us playlists that we have created on the platform. In both cases, to be able to reproduce the content we will have to click on them to open the application, we cannot directly reproduce the content due to the limitation established by Apple and that for this type of applications, like podcast applications, it does not make any sense.
Just like there is no Play button, no button is shown to be able to skip song or stop playback, so it really has no practical use beyond the larger widget that will allow us to access the playlist we click on.
The reason for this limitation that for this type of applications is unknown and only Apple will have a justification for it. Let's hope that this absurd limitation will be eliminated in future updates of iOS 14 and we will not have to wait for future versions of iOS, since it is very comfortable for users who regularly use their iPhone to listen to a lot or podcast.
