Getting Started with iBooks (II): Store and Putting Books on the iPad

iBooks

Yesterday we talked to you about how iBooks was structured (the application to read books designed by Apple for iOS devices), how to move the books that we have in the collections, how to transfer books from one collection to another, how to create collections ... But, there is one thing that we have not talked about : How to put books or PDFs in iBooks? If I don't have books; I cannot order them, nor transfer them to other collections ...

So today we will focus on downloading books from the store, how to put PDFs and EPUB books on our iPad and everything related to uploading books to iBooks.

The iBooks Store

As you should already know, Apple has a store dedicated exclusively to the purchase of electronic books called: iBooks Store. To access it, we have to go to the iBooks application and click on «Our shop»At the top left of the screen. We will enter a place like this:

iBooks

It is an App Store but for books, so if you know how to use the application store, you will surely know how to use the iBooks Store. We can visualize the books « ", the "Top Charts","Top Authors»And see what books«Bought»We have in iCloud to be able to download them for free.

How to buy a book?

Very simple, in the upper right part of the store we have the search engine where we can search for any book that occurs to us, then, it will have to be in the Store to download it.

iBooks

Will appear to us different books related to the terms that we have written in the search engine. We select the one we think is the book we want to download.

And, once inside, we can see the author, the cover, the languages, the pages, what it occupies, the money it costs and the evaluation of the users who have already read it. But, we have an interesting function: Shows.

If we click on «Sample»We will download a few pages of the book for free to verify that it is the one that interests us or to know if it is hooking us and then buy it because we like it. But, if we want to buy it, enough with click on the price of the book twice until it appears in the "Library."

How to upload an EPUB or a PDF that we have to iBooks?

Sometimes we buy the books outside of the official iBooks book store and get a file EPUB or PDF. These files are compatible with iBooks and to add them on our iPad (in the application) we have different ways to do it:

  1. Mailing the epub and "Open It In" iBooks.
  2. Upload the EPUB to Dropbox or another cloud and open it on our iPad.
  3. Use iTunes to get it into iBooks

Until next time!
