First tests of the water resistance of the Apple Watch

Australia has been one of the first countries where users have been able to receive the Apple Watch before anyone else, due to the time difference. From that country the first impressions about the device and the first results of the tests to which they are subjecting the device are already arriving. One of them is the famous water resistance of the Apple Watch. The guys at FoneFox, have been the first to test the device's water resistance, both to a shower and a dip in the pool.

The Apple Watch carries an IPX 7 certification that makes it resistant to splashes of water and submersible at most one meter for 30 minutes, although companies are usually very conservative when setting waterproof limits for legal reasons and not to have future problems due to misunderstandings or misinterpretations by users.

Los chios by FoneFox put the Apple Watch in a full shower. A member of the team took a shower, including soap with the device on his wrist to check the famous water resistance that Tim Cook had commented on months ago. When getting out of the shower, the device was completely dried without showing any trace or defect in its operation. First test passed.

In the second test, they soaked the Apple Watch in a bucket of water for five minutes. At the end of the time, we proceeded to dry the device and check that it was still working without any type of problem.

And now the hardest test: use Apple Watch for 15 minutes in the pool. During that time, the touch screen was not responding, due to the capture technology it uses, however, what worked without problems was the crown to zoom in or out of applications. Once out of the pool and after drying the device, the Apple Watch did not show any abnormality in its operation.

The IPX 7 certification, used by the Apple Watch, does not recommend using the device in the pool regularly, but it is good to know that if for any reason we forget it, we will have a few minutes to get out of the pool and keep it safe.
