Fix WiFi problems thanks to WiFried (Cydia)

WiFried

The Wifi of our iOS devices is not as fine as it should be in many cases. Users who complain of connection loss or slow download are many, and although it is a problem that Apple has not recognized at the moment, it is clear that something is not as fine as it should and causes problems with our wireless connections. Apple released an update more than a week ago, iOS 8.1.1, that supposedly solves this problem, but what about those who have Jailbreak and do not want to lose it to simply collect this wireless connectivity problem? Well, the same Jailbreak gives us the solution and promises to solve all these problems by installing an application, WiFried, which is also free and its operation very simple.

The problem causing these connectivity failures seems to be related to AWDL (Apple Wireless Direct Link) that iOS uses for AirDrop, AirPlay, and some games. This tweak allows us to deactivate this function, an option that we must always have in "Off" mode to achieve an optimal download speed, depending of course on the speed that we have contracted with our provider. To achieve this, you just have to display in the Control Center, and in the AirDrop option, where previously the options "Deactivated", "All" and "Only contacts" appeared, now the option "WiFried (AWDL_Off)" will also appear. the option that we must select whenever we are not going to use AirDrop.

As I say this problem is fixed in iOS 8.1.1, or at least that's what Apple says. If I tell you my personal experience, while on my iPhone 6 Plus I have never noticed problems with the connection, I have noticed them on my iPad 3 and on my iPad Mini, and it seems that there is some improvement with this tweak, although When doing a speed test I do not get significant differences, it does seem that the connection is better and when playing streaming content it is done without interruptions, something that did happen to me frequently before. The tweak is completely free and available on the ModMyi repo, which is already included in Cydia by default.

I have tried this Tweak on my iPad Air and my iPhone 6, both with iOS 8.1 and the wireless connection works much better in both. Regarding the speed test, where you notice the difference Luis is if, for example, you are doing the speed test (without the tweak or with the option deactivated) and while you do it, you open the control center for example (which is one of the tests proposed by the author). It is there or when the speed drop is noticed or in situations where you interact with the device while making a download, etc.

A separate case could make an article with the new tweak deñ Virtual Home that came out a couple of days ago (this time completely adapted for iOS 8) and that is now paid 😉
