App of the Day: Shazam (Free)

Shazam is an application that is dedicated to listen to a song that is playing when you tell him and identify your name, group and other details. It is an application similar to Tunatic for Windows. We have been testing it and these are our conclusions.

Imagine yourself in a clothing store. You hear a song that you like but you don't know its name or anything about it, you open the program, and in seconds it tells you the name. You are really amazed at how fast it does it and how easy it is.

The program is really very complete, and when the song recognizes you, several sections appear.

  • In the first one you will see the photo of the album cover along with the name of the artist, song, musical genre, album and record company.
  • In the second there are direct links to the iTunes Store to buy or preview the song, as well as a direct link to the video clip of the song on YouTube.
  • In the third section there are 4 options.
  1. Take and Attach Photo: Take a photo from the camera to replace the one on the face
  2. Attach Photo Album: Use the photo you choose from your album to replace the one on the cover
  3. ShareTag: Open the Mail client to share the song information
  4. Delete Tag: Delete found song information

And you do not need to take a note when it finds a song, since it will store all the data of the songs found and show them on the cover of the application.

Positive aspects:

  1. Application Free
  2. Hit the songs with great accuracy
  3. Spruce repertoire on your song server (4 million songs)
  4. Simplicity of use
  5. Speed

Negative aspects:

  1. You need a internet, either Wifi or 3G to identify it
  2. Spanish groups something old is difficult to find
  3. Groups missing non-English speaking news

I have tried with the iPhone near the speaker of my computer and without problem. In addition, I have tried in a clothing store, as I have said, in a fitting room, with the speaker quite far away, and without problems. Another thing is that the song you are looking for is not in their database. I assure you that I have tried all kinds of music and 90% of my iTunes library has recognized it.

      All the best

The Spanish music practically does not catch it, the American and English yes, the truth is that for me it is worth it since 99.99% of what I listen is NOT Spanish, more than nothing is that I prefer to listen to quality things, hehe

In another vein, why do you put as a negative that you need to connect to the internet? In theory, every iPhone has a flat data connection so it is not a problem, and it works perfectly for gprs, I always use it like that.

I just installed it and tested it with the background music from the gig. Perfect, in 5 seconds it has recognized and given the song that was playing. Very good. By the way, thanks for the "daily program review." It comes in handy to know what to download and what not.

A question ; When I try to download the application, I get to enter an account (name and password), is there where I have to register? Eske I'm a rookie hehe

    13.   max_sherry said

You have to create an account in AppStore, I think I did it through iTunes when I connected the iPhone the first time.
