GarageBand is updated adding support for 3D Touch

GarageBand

The iOS version of Apple's less professional audio sequencer, GarageBand has been updated to version 2.1 including a lot of interesting news. Among these novelties, there are functions that for everything new that was launched in September, since official support for the iPad Pro is included and options have been added that recognize the force applied on the screen, which is known as 3D Touch.

If you are users of the desktop version of GarageBand, the most news included will be familiar to you, since are now available on Mac. I would highlight the arrival of virtual drums, what Apple has baptized as Drummers (not a very original name) and that they are musicians who will play as we ask them by moving a red circle around an action box, telling them which parts of the playing drums, with more or less filling, etc. If you have never tried it, do it because it is worth it. Here is the list of new features included in GarageBand 2.1.

What's New in GarageBand 2.1

  • Live Loops have been included, allowing us to create music using DJ-style effects loops with multi-touch gestures and instruments, the latter in a similar way to how it could already be done in its desktop version.
  • Virtual Drummers have been added.
  • Now we can record the control settings of any touch instrument.
  • Now we can create and edit automation curves to control the volume of a track.
  • Ability to connect an electric bass and use it with modern and classic amps.
  • Over 1200 loops and sounds available.
  • Possibility to record 32 tracks at once (only from iPhone 5s, iPad Air and iPad mini 2).
  • Ability to use third-party music applications with Audio Unit Extensions (if the third-party application is supported).
  • Ability to import and export with iCloud Drive.
  • Now we can use the 3D Touch of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to reproduce keyboard sounds with polyphonic post-press.

It seems important to mention that the update only available as of iOS 9.1, so we will not be able to use it if we have a jailbreak (iOS 9.0.2 or earlier).
