IPhone hacker Geohot rooted the Samsung Galaxy S4

geohot samsung

We recently read Pod2g on Twitter threatening to stop using iOS and switch to Android since it seems that the new operating system that will be presented in Autumn has not been liked at all. Is now GeoHot, perhaps the most famous iPhone hacker, whom we see hack a Samsung Galaxy S4 Active to get administrator access, which is known as root and which is the equivalent to jailbreak on iOS.

Geohot was the first person to hack an iPhoneFirst, he did it by hardware, then he managed to do it by software, giving birth to the first jailbreak in the history of the iPhone. George Hotz left the iPhone scene because he was tired of everything being so easy and because he was sick of being pestered with demands. Now it seems that you have a Samsung Galaxy S4 Active and have rooted the terminal.

For get administrator access to Samsung you just have to enter on a web page that the hacker has prepared and press the large letter Lambda that appears on the screen, an apk file will be downloaded and when you install it, you just have to follow the instructions that appear on the screen to "root" the device, as easy as Geohot always did on iPhone. Obviously this process should be done only from the indicated device.

The most interesting thing is that there was a prize of 455 dollars for the person who got it, but it seems that GeoHot will not take it because it has used known exploits that were hosted on GitHub, it wasn't all his work exclusively.

It would be nice if this hacker back to iOS, but from what we know it's almost impossible, has no interest in the platform or because of how insistent some users are. These types of people get tired of devices so easily and want to try new things and find new challenges; as happened with PlayStation (which also brought him many legal problems).

The android community is not "demanding" at all lol

I'm sure that in a couple of months he will be back 😀

What you have done is not difficult at all, since Android is a free operating system (open ..)

You have to know very, very little about Android to say what you say mate. A huge number of terminals (including the one in the article), have what is known as a kernel, blocked, that is, access to many parts of the system is blocked. Sometimes it is the companies themselves that release it and other times it is the Android scene that does it.

What GeoHot has done is made it incredibly easy to root the S4. Moreover, I will tell you that many people did not root their terminal because it scared them since sometimes it was a bit complex and they even ran the risk of bricking the terminal.

With this method of GeoHot to root the S4 (and those who come), it is so simple that anyone without having any kind of knowledge can do it without fear.

You have to know a little more about the other systems before saying these things.

Hello, let me tell you ...

I repeat that it is not difficult at all .. he has done it that way, okay, but I would have done it in another way, much easier .. I will summarize it in pieces 😉

        1) I take the mobile, I go to Settings -> Phone information -> Build -> Press 7 times.
        2) I go to Settings -> Development options -> USB debugging -> Active.
        3) I get the firmware from Samsung and I get recovery.img
        4) I go to builder.clockworkmod.com and create a custom Recovery
        5) In Windows, I create a text file, in which I put this that I leave you here on my GitHub: https://github.com/DavidVazGuijarro/demostracionactualidadiphone/blob/master/IniciarRecovery.bat , and part, I take the programs adb.exe and fastboot.exe, and the two .dll of adb.
        6) I put the custom recovery generated in the previous web in the same folder.
        7) I take a zip that includes SuperSU and its XDA files that is compatible with Android 4.2.2 and I pass it to the SD of the Galaxy S4.
        8) I run the .bat, and the Galaxy will reboot into the custom recovery.
        9) I flash the SuperSU zip.
        10) I can already enjoy the ROOT 😀

With all due respect, that process does not seem much easier than installing an apk and following instructions, which is understandable, but it is not easier, rather the opposite.

          1.    David Vaz Guijarro said

True, GeoHot's is much faster and easier, but I repeat that I would use my own method ... I would like to see if it works…. unfortunately at the moment I can not

From what I've read (I can't verify it, because I don't have that phone) the procedure you mention is valid for some S4 models, but not for the AT&T Galaxy S4 Active Root (SGH-i537) model, which is what Geohot has made. root and for which it paid 455 dollars. As I told you, I am not sure, but it is what I have seen on the internet 🙂

I'm going to have to get the S4 Active to test it at the end ... xD

Stop saying stupid David, what you mention is in various forums dedicated to Android and well it does not work for everyone .. to do what you say you first have to unlock the bootloader: genius: ... if you don't think they would give the prize of 500 dollars? ??
Also I do not know how you can say easy when by "your method" you already have the exploit that is the difficult thing to do.

                1) I see that you have not read ALL the comments ..: facepalm:

                2) Well, I don't know where you have "read" it ... since I WRITTEN ALL THAT.

PS: They are not stupid, and no, it is not necessary to open the bootloader before .. -.-

        2.    gnzl said

I doubt it, if they pay € 500 to the one who gets it, I very much doubt that it can be done with a tutorial copied from the internet

          1.    David Vaz Guijarro said

I have not copied it ... I don't know what you are about, the truth ... you can search all over Google if you want, but copied IS NOT.

PS: If you say the copying because of builder.clockworkmod.com NO, it is not copied, it is the web that I used to generate a Custom Recovery for my old Motoluxe, and that procedure that I have written up there is the one I would use if I had the S4 Active.

            1.    gnzl said

do it, it's 455 dollars for whoever gets it

              1.    David Vaz Guijarro said

If you can get me a Galaxy S4 Active, I'll be delighted to do it 😀

        3.    aarancon said

Very good because I see that at least you have dedicated yourself to looking for a tutor and then you paste it here. Congratulations for the effort.

I do not know if with that copy / paste that you have put the kernel of the S4 can be unlocked because I don't have one, I have an iPhone 5, although as Gonzalo tells you very well I doubt it. Anyway ... Is your copy / paste easier than entering a website, pressing a letter and installing the apk that you download?

You continue that you are becoming a better partner.

          1.    David Vaz Guijarro said

If you think I have copied / pasted it, we are going wrong, eh ...
EDIT: You have an answer below, I have written it as responding to Gonzalo, but I think it also serves what you have answered me.
PS: Of course I continue 😀
PD2: I repeat again that it is NOT copy / paste (you can check it by searching Google) and that yes, what GeoHot has done is easier, but I like to do things my way ... and until I can't do one thing I do not stop and I do not give up, NEVER.

            1.    David Vaz Guijarro said

I answer myself to say one thing ...

«Now what I think about it ... Are you" attacking "me why am I using Android?" oO

      2.    Jobs said

Exactly, as it happened with the first JB it was very dangerous. but thanks to people like GeoHot it can be done by most mortals.

Good, I do not have an Android terminal and the truth is that I have not liked that OS the times I have tried it, but it is always good that the user has more freedom regarding the gadgets that are acquired, so I am happy for the Android community 😉
