Goodbye jailbreak with iOS 8.1.3

taiga

Bad news and good newsAs usual, Apple has made an effort to re-fix the iOS security holes that hackers have discovered and used to make jailbreak possible.

With the recent release of iOS 8.1.3 Apple has closed the doors to Jailbreak againBut this is nothing less than another step in the typical race between Apple and hackers on the scene for control of iOS.

With the latest update that you can currently download via OTA (iOS 8.1.3) Apple has closed with a stroke of the pen more than 20 security flaws on iOS among which were the 4 exploits that TaiG used to jailbreak iOS 8.1.2 or lower and an exploit awarded to team Pangu and Stefan Esser; 3 kernel-level exploits, something difficult to fit in but that will not be the end of the jailbreak in iOS.

And is that hackers like challenges, that Apple closed these bugs was something that was known to happen and that benefits us users, since those who do not want to use the Jailbreak will see their devices more secure against possible threats.

Pangu

And those who do want to Jailbreak? Don't worry, for us (I include myself) Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), (as you have been doing lately with previous versions) has not stopped signing iOS 8.1.2, something that also happened when 8.1.2 came out with 8.1.1 and so on from iOS 8.0 or earlier, which makes me think that Apple is giving people some freedom to decide if they want a free iOS or not (or is it just they are afraid that what happened with iOS 8.0.1 will happen) but in a discreet way to avoid giving the image that it approves the Jailbreak.

Even if by bad luck they stopped signing iOS 8.1.2 (which I hope as before until the next Jailbrek comes out they will not do it) I am sure that teams like TaiG or others are already determined to get down to work and find new holes that make possible the free iOS that we like so much.

It strikes me that Apple has also fixed in this version a bug reported by Google Project Zero (remember that this team discovered security flaws in OS X and gave Apple 3 months to fix them, which it did not do and now they have made them public) that allowed an infected application to execute unauthorized code with system privileges on iOS, something very dangerous (having system or root privileges is the equivalent of being able to do the same as Cydia or any of its tweaks) and it is appreciated that it is solved.

If you want to check for yourself the vulnerabilities that Apple has repaired, you just have to enter this link.

I would find it interesting if the 8.1.3 update had decreased the amount of memory it occupies in the iphone, check to see if there was more space and nothing remains the same, not notice any difference. I suppose that it benefits only those who have 8 gigabytes because from 16 to more the memory remained the same there was no change.

Before the JB seemed very good to me, since I got the iPhone 5s I never did it again and it seems much better and I will not do it anymore ... it seems that the phone is much better, it is more stable, I do not know ... personal opinion.

I have an iPhone 5s and the truth thanks to jailbreak I could do SO BASIC things like that the springboard (desktop) and the lockscreen will rotate when put in a horizontal position, add more icons to the dock (lower menu) and to the springboard (both lines and columns )… Add to the keyboard the numbering above the letters (like pc keyboards)… avoid typing the password every time I download from the appstore (with auto-fill)… rename the labels of the icons on the springboard…. choose what I want to display or hide from any aspect of the phone (labels, apple's own apps… etc etc)… .. BASIC THINGS that apple could allow us… .. but that we cannot do…

It's stupid to buy an iPhone just to jailbreak it. Use Android if you don't like iOS.

At the risk of being sent to the stake for this comment I will say that excluding the ROMS issue, iOS with Jailbreak is more free than Android, and in that "free" I include insurance, since in Android with root you may be able to do whatever you want , but be careful, because if you eat your brick alone, in iOS it is to go through iTunes with a restore and you get the iPhone or the device that you have until sealed xD

And in Android it is exactly the same, it depends on the brand but in the end it is the same, it is much more free android, you can install external applications without all the paraphernalia that IOS requires, you can edit everything you want without having to install a program to add repos to add programs. And if you have an android, how can you be Xiaomi, you already realize the advantages that Android can have And for the record, I am a user of both.

Is there a way to erase the firmware that was downloaded to the iPhone? I don't want to install it but it is taking up space there.

    1.    Juan Colilla said

There are several, the simplest (only if you have a jailbreak) is the iCleaner tweak, the other is from the PC, stay tuned that I will publish as in the next few days 😀

The truth is that android has no comparison in freedom against ios, as you will see, as well as a friend who uses both systems, you don't have to kill yourself for putting a lot of programs just for the device to lose stability and performance in terms of battery life…. In android, the reason for the numbers in hardware nta cough of its memory devices so 4gb roses adores of eight cores to 2.7 etc, it is that same system so little optimized but in exchange for that they give us a touch of freedom as infinite as dangerous set that In my humble opinion they cannot wish that android is less free and more insecure than in ios ps since nobody copies or can get information from you since they have direct contact with the codes and the same programs…. Unlike android, making a robot is less dangerous, which if it is reprehensible is the lack of practice and knowledge of the users in processes that require great consent, such as the removal of a mobile phone or things that go beyond a simple restart to activate a exposed module ...

I have an ipad mini wifi, first generation with ios7. Do you really feel the improvement in performance on a device like mine if I upgrade? I have it with jailbreak and I do not complain about the performance, except for some fps drops in games with high graphics.
