The Mountain View-based company continues to update and add new features to the applications available to it in the competitor's ecosystem, iOS. Google has dedicated itself this week to updating its main applications, such as Gmail, an application that has received important news along with a redesign of the interface and new gestures to control all the emails we receive daily. But in addition to Gmail, the application Google Calendar has also received a major update with which Google adds support for searches with Spotlight, in addition to a monthly, weekly and horizontal view.

One of the best most important and that has to do with the visualization of the appointments of the application in the possibility of being able to enjoy the next appointments on our agenda in horizontal format. Another important novelty is the compatibility of the different calendars, events and tasks that we have in Spotlight searches, something that will surely facilitate the search for appointments through iOS without having to open the application and go looking day by day.

Google Calendar is one of the applications with which the search giant wants to compete directly with Calendars 5 and Fantastcial 2, the best applications that we can currently find in the iOS ecosystem, but there is still a lot of work to be done to be able to offer the same configuration and customization options that these applications offer us.

What's new in version 1.6.3 of Google Calendar

  • The month and week views can be viewed in landscape format.
  • Alternative calendars: add a calendar other than Gregorian (lunar, Muslim, Hindu, etc.).
  • Events, reminders, and goals appear in Spotlight searches.
  • (G Suite only) Find a space and reserve a room: Invite coworkers to your event and Google Calendar will find the best times and rooms for the meeting.
