Why does the Home app have no widget and how to quickly access our accessories

HomeKit is the way in which Apple wants to make our home smart through compatible accessories. It is undoubtedly the fastest and most effective way to access smart demotics while in Spain other manufacturers such as Amazon and Google decide not to go out the door. More and more accessories are compatible with HomeKit, even at Ikea, but ... Where is the widget?

Well, indeed, Casa does not have direct 3D Touch access, for this Apple has created its own key within the Control Center that will allow us to access all accessories at a single glance, let's see how it works.

To activate the Home application widget we must go to Settings> Control Center and add the Home app to the possible options. Once we have it, we can quickly access its characteristics within the Control Center, sliding from the bottom up in terminals previous to the iPhone X, or from the right side in your case.

We will be able to see our six or nine favorite accessories and we can execute simple actions by means of a touch in the case of the lights (turn on or turn off), and now yes, take advantage of the 3D Touch capabilities to open the pop-up menu that will allow us, among other things:

  • Heating system: Increase or decrease the temperature thanks to the adjustment, although we also have the "mode" setting that will allow us to turn the boiler system on or off completely.
  • Standard lights: Running 3D Touch will open the switch in large mode, for this it is better not to invoke this menu and make a light touch on the widget directly.
  • RGB lights or with different intensity: In this case we can also turn on or off directly with just one touch, or when accessing through 3D Touch adjust the intensity of the light bulb. In the lower left we can also choose the color of the light.

And that's how easy it is as we can have it in a few taps. In short, we simply have to add the Home widget to the Control Center to save time.

Great article, but now there is an app to have HomeKit Widgets on iOS. It's called "Home Widget for HomeKit."

    Available here: https://apps.apple.com/es/app/home-widget-pour-homekit/id1579036143

    Tested and adopted!
