A few days ago we were talking about how to calibrate our Home button of our iDevice to more precisely adjust the function of this button that characterizes Apple in its devices with iOS. When we calibrate it, in theory, the button should be more in line with the function it does, that is, the button and its action are coordinated.
Today I will talk about a function that is a bit hidden within iOS if our Home button does not work and we have stayed on the Springboard without a Home button. Thanks to the accessibility of iOS, Apple allows us to use an "application" that will always be available on our screen and that will act as a Home button: Assistive Touch
As I have already told you, one day our central iPad button will stop working or even break directly and for this we have a function in the operating system that allows us to have a home button on the screen all the time (in a transparent icon) like this:
For this we will have to follow some very simple steps throughout our iPad, observe:
- We access the Settings of our iPad and then we go to General
- We select Accessibility in the General section
- In Accessibility we have all the features that make the iDevice more compatible with people with severe disabilities (and in this case we take advantage of that function for the Home button). We look for Assistive Touch and click on it.
- We turn on the function and the transparent icon will appear on our screen.
Assistive Touch interface
To interact with the Home button on the screen we will have to press the transparent icon and see all the functions:
- Gestures: People with disabilities (or not) can create gestures to facilitate the operation of the iDevice.
- Favorites: Your favorite gestures will appear in this section.
- Device: We can manage internal functions from here such as rotating the screen, activating sound, increasing volume ...
- Home: If we press, it will work as a Home Button.
What do you think of the alternative? Do you find it interesting? Do you like that Apple offers these features on iOS?
More information - Home button: How do we calibrate it if it doesn't work? (I)
It is a pity that to change the front button is so difficult and you have to disassemble the phone completely, if there were any web page that was dedicated to this at a reasonable price, they would be lined since at least 60% of us suffer it.
