How to activate button control in iOS 7

Button control

iOS is a very complete operating system, full of very complex tools, each one dedicated to a field, many of these tools can be found in the section on "Accessibility" such as VoiceOver, Zoom, AssistiveTouch ... All these tools are focused on allowing users with disabilities to enjoy all the advantages of iOS. Today we are going to focus on one of the most complex tools: Button control, that allows us to manage iOS through touches on the screen. Very stressful, but very useful for those who cannot move their hand correctly or have some kind of motor disability.

Controlling iOS by tapping the screen with "Button Control"

First, as always, we will have to activate the tool, for that:

  1. We access the iOS Settings
  2. We click on «General» and select «Accessibility»
  3. In the «Motricity» section, click on «Button control»

And once inside, we activate the switch that will turn on the tool and Next, we will have to create a button, to be able to control iOS by pressing on the screen. To do this, we follow the following steps within the menu we have just entered (Control by button):

  • Click on «Buttons»
  • And in the central part in «Add new button«
  • Select Screen, then Full Screen and to finish, Select item

With this, what we achieve is to create a menu to be able to control iOS by pressing on the screen (hence the full screen).

Now We see that some blue frames appear moving around the screen, if we want to enter the General Settings, we will have to wait for the blue box to reach the General block and click on the screen, the box will move through the chosen block and when the blue box reaches «General» we press again. A box will appear with the following buttons:

  • Press: as if it were a touch with the finger
  • Home: go to springboard
  • Displace: scroll through menus
  • Gestures: perform a specific gesture
  • Device: perform device actions such as accessing multitasking, control center ...
  • Settings: go directly to iOS Settings

To deactivate the Control by button, press the Home button three times and we will return to normal.
