How to Add Stations in iTunes Radio

itunes-radio-01

iTunes Radio has not yet left the United States, but enjoying it is as simple as create an iTunes account in that country and configure it on your device. If you are one of those who are enjoying this new service, or want to know more about it before its launch in your country, we will explain how to add stations from the device itself. Although it should be noted that iTunes Radio music playback cannot be chosen 100%, you can ask it to limit itself to a certain style.

iTunes Radio gives you some station recommendations, but you can search among the many of its extensive catalog and add them to your home screen for faster access. You just have to go down on the main screen and click on the "+" sign (New station).

A search engine and style catalog will appear. You can use either of the two options. In this case we are going to use the search engine. The options to search are: artist, genre or song. Write the term you want to search for in the upper box.

iTunes Radio will provide you with the results that are compatible with your search term. Choose the result that you like the most. It will be automatically added to your main screen stations.

I insist that no one feel "cheated": even if you choose "Radio ColdPlay" as I have done in this example, the playback will not be limited to this artist. At the moment iTunes Radio does not allow this option, it is more a «conventional radio», in which you can choose only the style, and the service is solely responsible for compiling songs that suit it.

iTunes Radio was one of the big launches along with iOS 7. Although it has not yet been launched outside the United States, it is expected to take place this year in many other countries. Having the extensive iTunes catalog is one of Apple's greatest assets to compete with similar others, such as Pandora or Rdio., and the possibility of buy the songs that are played from the application itself it will be an important source of income, along with the advertising that will be inserted, and from which only those who are subscribed to iTunes Match will be able to get rid.

Luis, is there any modality or service similar to the one offered by XBox Music in which you can pay a monthly fee and download all the records and songs from the store without paying extra and be able to listen to them even offline (as long as you are paying for the service) ? Because I use Xbox Music on my phone (Lumia 920) and it's not bad, but Apple's catalog is bigger and with the great advantage of having iTunes to organize your music, so if it exists I would seriously consider paying for it for my iPad. 😉

Not exactly that. You have iTunes Match, which allows you to upload your music to ICloud and have it on all your devices automatically, and download it to listen to it offline if you want. But you have to add the music for the first time. You also have iTunes Radio without advertising. But this is what I tell you, it is not what you ask.
