The remote desktop application that Google recently included in the AppStore is one of the methods, which if perhaps it is not the most complete or the one that provides the most functionalities, without a doubt, it is the simplest and most practical of all. Its advantages over competing applications such as Splashtop or Microsoft Remote Desktop is its simplicity and stability. Today Today iPad We want to show you how to make it work to get the most out of it.

A few days ago we told you about this great application here on iPad News, if you haven't read our article yet, or you simply don't know what Chrome Remote Desktop is for, this is the time.

One of the details to take into account of this application is that to interact with our computer it is not necessary to be sharing the same WiFi network between both devices, in addition to its versatility, since we can use it on any computer that supports the Google Chrome browser.

Requirements

  • Have installed Google Chrome on the computer that we want to control remotely.
  • The Google Remote Desktop application (if you have not downloaded it yet, at the end of the post we leave the link).
  • The Chrome Remote Desktop extension for Google Chrome.

Procedure

  1. Once we have downloaded and installed the Chrome Remote Desktop extension, the application icon will appear in the Google Chrome application drawer.

  1. Within the application, the first step is to activate remote connections.

  1. Once remote connections are enabled, the browser will request to install a driver software package, we accept and complete the installation process.
  1. Let's not forget to have the Google account session started to use the application. We return to Google Remote Desktop in Chrome and establish the PIN code that it is going to request. In Mac OS you may have to open "Preferences" and re-enter the PIN there, if the field is not editable press the padlock icon at the bottom left.

  1. Now we open Chrome Remote Desktop on our iDevice (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) and start our Google session. The computers that we have linked to our account that we can control remotely will automatically appear.

  1. The first start will request the PIN that we have previously determined, but we can mark the option not to request it again.

  1. Instantly you will see your computer screen reflected as well as all its functions on the screen of your iOS device and you will be able to intuitively control all its peripherals such as keyboard and mouse.

Control Chrome Remote Desktop from iOS

  • The mouse will move intuitively, not necessarily by touching the desired parts, but you will be able to operate the pointer from anywhere on the screen. It will not be necessary to scroll to move since the application does it automatically when you move the mouse. However, you can deactivate the pointer and perform the functions in a completely tactile way if you click on the mouse icon in the upper drop-down menu and deactivate it.
  • The keyboard will appear when you click on its icon in the upper drop-down menu, using the same keystroke to make it disappear.
  • The other functions offered by the drop-down menu are: abandon the connection, issue a Ctrl + Alt + Del, or hide the drop-down menu.

We hope this tutorial has been useful to you and you can get the most out of the application. As you have seen, although it is not an application full of options, it is incredibly easy to use. This gives us many facilities if we need to access a file on the hard drive of our personal computer from anywhere with our data connection or, if we use the computer as a multimedia center at home and we do not feel like getting up from the sofa to change the chapter of our Favorite TV show.
