How to downgrade from iOS 11.4 to iOS 11.3.1

What's new in the world of jailbreak they are hotter than ever. That's why hackers are recommending reverting to older, still-signed versions of iOS to make sure Cydia can be installed in the near future. Currently Apple signs the new update, iOS 11.4, but it will also sign the previous version for a few days iOS 11.3.1.

In this article we teach you how to downgrade from iOS 11.4 to iOS 11.3.1. It is important to remember that this post will only be usable until Apple stops signing the older version of iOS. As soon as you stop signing, we will not be able to download the update and install it on our device.

If you want to have Cydia on your device ... go back to iOS 11.3.1

The first thing we have to do is check if the version is being signed by Apple at the moment you read these lines. For this we go to this link and we select our terminal among all the options that are offered to us. Once done, a screen will appear with all the versions that have been installed on the device. On top, Green color, there will be those that Apple still signs.

  • We download the iOS 11.3.1 version by clicking on it and selecting "Download". It is a large file of almost 3GB so it will take a while if your connection is slow.
  • While downloading, make a backup of all your data, since we will keep the data of the current version installed on your device for a completely new one. Be careful if something goes wrong during the downgrade.
  • We also have to make sure that we have the latest version of iTunes installed. It is not mandatory but it is recommended.
  • Once the download is finished, we will connect our iPhone or iPad and open iTunes. In the upper left we can see the icon of our device, click on it.

  • On the right side of the screen we will see two options: Check for updates (in my case Update appears because I have iOS 11.3.1) and Restore iPhone.
  • We hold down the option / alt (Mac) or Shift (PC) key and click on Update.
  • A new dialog box will open where we will look for the file that we have previously downloaded.

iTunes will extract the operating system and install iOS 11.3.1 on our iPhone in case you keep signing it.

Confirmed that a copy of a higher level cannot be restored over a previous level, that is, in this case, a copy of IOS 11.4 cannot be restored over IOS 11.3.1…. and Mr. Angel drops that yes you can, so be very careful

Before downgrading, making a backup is a good option to avoid some problems in the do-down process that leads to data loss.
