With the latest updates, Cydia has become a much more powerful application as well as offering many more privacy options than before. One of the most important is that Cydia no longer works as root, that is, from the last update Cydia works as if it were just another application; it does not have access to super-user (root) functions or special permissions. Another of the most important functions is the possibility of downgrade to a Cydia tweak, that is, choose which version of a tweak we want to install on our device. After the jump you have a tutorial on how to do it.
Cydia allows tweaks to be downgraded
With this tutorial we will learn to downgrade tweaks Cydia, that is, choose which version of the tweak we want to install, something that we cannot do in any application. Perhaps the term 'downgrade' sounds familiar to you due to issues related to iOS since there are tools that allow us to choose which version of iOS we want to install on our device (although in recent years this term has been heard much less).
To perform the downgrade to a tweak we have to follow the following steps:
- Access a tweak, in this case the tweak to which we want to downgrade
- In the upper right part of the screen we have the button «Modify». Click on it and select the tab «Downgrade«.
- A kind of menu will be displayed with all the versions available to download on our device. We select the version to which we want to go and click on "Confirm".
This feature makes many users who have old devices they can continue to use a tweak that they like as the new updates are released according to the hardware of the new Apple devices. For example, the latest version of Winterboard is still not supported by an iPad 2 and therefore, an iPad 2 has the ability to install old versions with this Cydia feature.
Nice trick but it doesn't work on all tweaks?
WORKS WITH VERY VERY BUT VERY FEW TWEAKS X, C
