How to Export iPhone Contacts Using iCloud

Export iPhone contacts

If you are an Apple user convinced that you will never change your iPhone for another terminal, you will probably find little sense in the tutorial that we are going to present you today. However, if you are not sure that the current iPhone is your ideal device, or if simply because you like to fiddle with several mobiles at the same time you want to easily have your contacts already saved in the agenda in another terminal, today we tell you how to do it using Apple's cloud system, iCloud.

Export the iPhone contacts Using iCloud is a fairly simple process, but it is not always taken advantage of because it is quite little known, and also because for novice users, landing on Apple, with all the changes that it involves, sometimes is not as simple as we It seems to those who have been on iOS for a long time. So without further ado, let's move on to our tutorial today on how to export iPhone contacts using iCloud.

How to Export iPhone Contacts Using iCloud

  1. Before starting make sure you have the your iPhone contacts synced with iCloud. If you have no idea how to do that, calm down. It is very simple. You just have to follow the path Settings> iCloud> Contacts. Precisely in Contacts make sure that the button is activated. Up to here I facilitate, right?
  2. Now we are going to start the process of exporting the iCloud contacts to another location outside of the iPhone. There are many ways to do it, but since we can open iCloud from any browser regardless of the OS we use on the computer, we have chosen that option. From there we will be able to save them in a file that we will then send via Bluetooth or cable to the new terminal.
  3. So we started by logging into our iCloud account by accessing the iCloud.com website.
  4. Once inside, select the icon Contacts that will appear to you in the first level
  5. If you only have one iPhone, you will only find the contacts that you have saved in the mobile terminal. If you have more devices synced with iCloud they will all appear there. If you have done a good job organizing groups, it will be easier, otherwise, it will probably take a while to understand who many of those who appear on your agenda were (yes, I admit that I am one of those who has happened to me)
  6. We are left to choose if you are going to export all your contacts, or if you are going to select manually only some. The first of the options is explained in the next point. The second at point 8. So if that's the case, skip the 7.
  7. On the main screen where you are in iCloud, go to the bottom left of the screen. There you will find an icon shaped like a nut (the classic configuration). If you click on it, several options appear. You must first select the Select All option. After that, go back to the same icon and choose the penultimate one; Export vCard. A new window will appear asking for the location of the file you download. Indicate where you want to save them and finish the process.
  8. To export only some contacts we will have to select them manually. So you will need the mouse and the Command key to group them. As soon as you're done, just go to the nut icon at the bottom left and hit Export vCard.
  9. Now that we have the file saved, it remains to transfer it to the other devices. Currently, almost all devices are compatible with the vCard format, so in principle it would be enough to send it using Bluetooth or via USB cable.

I have selected the option of all contacts and only the first contact is exported.

@Amadeu have you already transferred it to another device? Or have you only spoken it from your own Mac or PC?
This is important, since at least on PC it opens them one at a time, but it usually allows you to navigate between them. Personally, I synchronize it through an iCloud account in conjunction with Outlook, in this way I have it directly on the PC, and I can synchronize it with any device later.
And I forget about having to do this every time I have added a new one.

Very good tutorial. The only site that explains that to see the contacts after making the backup you have to activate contacts, otherwise nothing is seen. Great the tutorial. I just need that at least in explorer and chrome I did not get the vcard. I had to do it in mozzila

Very good tutorial and your comments have also saved me. With Chrome and Explorer it did not create the vcard file and it was impossible to download the contacts. It was necessary to install Mozilla to be able to do it. Thanks a lot.
