How to fix problems caused by jailbreak

iPhone 6 broken

Many times installing an incompatible tweak or a bug can cause system failures or instabilitiesWhen this happens it can be difficult to find out the cause of the problem (although it is usually the last tweak installed), so today I am going to show you how we can solve these problems whenever they are caused by a jailbreak tweak.

Whether because your iPhone restarts frequently, or because the apps are closed to you, or because at some point something fails, generally you can always solve the problem and in a very simple way as well.

It should be noted that this does not work if system files have been corrupted, that is, if you have modified something and it has gone wrong, these solutions will not do any good.

STEP 1, The easiest way to solve a problem is usually to uninstall the last installed tweak and then pass the broom (no jokes haha I mean the iCleaner app available in Cydia for free). This usually deletes the tweak that caused the failure and the possible traces that it may leave, as well as its dependencies (libraries or other tweaks that may have been installed with it in Cydia and that although it may not seem like it, can slow down your device).

In case that doesn't work, we go one level higher, STEP 2, and we look in Cydia for a tweak called "Cydia Substrate", which we will have to eliminate (this tweak is the platform through which the other tweaks work, in fact, generally the tweaks are extensions of this main tweak), eliminating this tweak will cause ALL the other tweaks to be eliminated as well, leaving your iPhone clean of modifications, which should solve the problem (although it would be good to go through the broom again after this step to ensure that there are no remains and restart the phone).

Later you can install your tweaks again with care not to install the one that was causing problems.

Cydia Substrate

You will notice that some tweaks like iCleaner are not removed even if you remove Cydia Substrate, this is because these last survivors are completely autonomous apps that do not depend on Cydia Substrate to work, which also usually means that they do not work as a background process, but work like any other app but with root access generally.

STEP 3, on that occasion already we depend on our PC or MAC, there is a program called SemiRestore that offers advanced cleaning functions, in different degrees of action SemiRestore is capable of leaving a jailbroken iPhone clean of any modification and as if the jailbreak had just been carried out, or more radically make a false restoration and delete all personal data, apps and modifications leaving the iPhone as recently purchased, yes, with the same version of the iOS system and with jailbreak still applied, this method does not require the iOS file because it does not really restore the iPhone, but rather clean all your data.

You can download SemiRestore from its official website (click here)

Finally say that this last step can not fix damaged system files, in that case our only option is to restore the system, and it is even the most recommended because Apple is still signing iOS 8.1.2, but as soon as 8.2 comes out in March this will no longer be possible.

What happens if I remove the cydia substrate and then upgrade to 8.1.3 via OTA?
    Greetings.

It is not possible to update an iPhone with jailbreak via OTA, this process requires a restoration of the device since eliminating Cydia Substrate or Cydia Installer does not eliminate the jailbreak (BEWARE, never delete Cydia Installer or we will be left in a boot loop without being able to use our iPhone and forced to restore), programs such as TaiG or Pangu are already responsible for deactivating the process or "daemon" that handles updates via OTA, if for any reason you get an update in Settings and you have the jailbreak applied, do not install it or you will be forced to restore by iTunes.

Wouldn't it be better to boot the iPhone with the volume (+) button pressed? What Saurik thought for these cases and in this way Cydia Subtrate is "deactivated" there is a new Restart. Eliminate the conflicting Tweek without all the fuss.

Safe Mode can be used to complete Step 1 if you cannot access the springboard normally. In case of not being able to access, yes, it would be the correct option, thank you for your contribution 😀

I think the same David if they knew the benefits that it brings for you as aesthetically and functionally change, they would do it following the steps that they are, it is like saying do not buy a motorcycle because they were designed for revenge and cause deaths, do not drive a car because you you kill etc Well used things in this world work happy Day

Juan my problem since Saturday is that I updated whatsapp. I have jailbreak on my iPhone 5 in ios 8.1.2 and since Saturday the app closes when trying to use it. But it works perfect in safe mode. Do you know anything about this or how to fix it? because it is not because of a tweak installed but because of the update of the app. Thanks and regards.

That happened to me because of the Watusi tweak… uninstall that tweak (it doesn't load in safe mode, that's why it goes)…. and if you download the official one, it is compatible with the new version.

Thanks Javi but I don't use that tweak. Thanks.

My recommendation is that you delete the WhatsApp app, pass iCleaner with "remove dependencies" activated and after restarting your iPhone, reinstall it 😀 PS: That happened to me with the beta, so I ended up installing the AppStore version

Thanks Juan. I'm going to try and let you know.

Hi Juan and thank you very much for the recommendation. Problem solved by doing what you told me. Thanks a lot.

I wanted to uninstall Cydia for some updates. For this, I went to general-reset-reset settings and contents. The cell phone was not connected to the computer. I understand that I should have done it in DFU mode so I connected it to the computer, I put it in DFU mode and itunes recognized it. I gave him to restore the iphone and it came out that it would be restored with the last update. When it was downloaded, something happened that followed the screen with the logo and as if it were loading (but in reality nothing was progressing). What could I do?
