It is becoming a habit (a bad habit) that the Jailbreak is released first in a compatible version for Windows and hackers forget that Mac users exist until after a few weeks. This is what happened with Pangu, and this is what happened with TaiG, the latest version that Jailbreak iOS 8.0-8.1.1 and which currently remains exclusively as a Windows version. Fortunately Those of us who use Mac have the possibility of installing Windows on our computer, so we are going to explain how to install a virtual machine with Windows to do this (and many other things). It is very easy and it takes very little time, so enter without fear.
Why a virtual machine?
OS X allows you to install Windows in two different ways: through Bootcamp and through Virtual Machine. The first is free, it comes already in the system, and it has many advantages, but it is not worth it if you are only going to use Windows occasionally. The second is done through a paid application (VMWare Fusion and Parallels are the best known), it is fast and also allows you to use Windows without leaving the Mac environment, so it is ideal for specific things as in this case.
What virtual machine do we choose?
In this example I have decided to choose VMware Fusion because I find it more intuitive and easy to use, although Parallels is an excellent option as well. VMWare Fusion can be downloaded from its official page and you can also try it before buying it, so it is an excellent option in our case.
Requirements
- VMWare Fusion 7 (or Parallels)
- A copy of Windows in * .iso or on DVD
- IOS 8 compatible device updated through iTunes (OTA updates do not work)
Create virtual machine
The first thing we have to do is create our virtual machine with Windows 7. To do this we run VMWare Fusion and choose the installation method (Install from disk or image). We insert the disk or USB into our Mac and select it in the next window, clicking Continue.
Now we enter some of our login details (username and password), the version that we are going to install and in the next window we choose the "More isolated" mode, ideal for simple installations, which is precisely what we are looking for.
After a few minutes in which we will see the classic Windows installation windows we will have our virtual machine ready to go. We can use Windows in a window inside our Mac.
Jailbreak with TaiG
Before continuing with our process, we must install iTunes in the copy of Windows. To do this, from the Windows window we use the browser (Internet Explorer) to go to the Apple page and download itunes. Once downloaded we can now connect our iPhone or iPad to the computer.
When we connect it, a window will appear asking us to let us indicate where we want to use the iPhone (Windows or Mac). As is logical in this case we will select Windows.
Already if we have everything ready for run the TaiG app to Jailbreak our iPhone or iPad and start enjoying Cydia. By the way, you can download TaiG from its official website and you have a full tutorial on iPad News.
