How to make and receive calls from your iPad with iOS 8

While Apple was extending the use of video calls through FaceTime to all iOS and Mac devices, phone calls still were restricted to the iPhone, up to now. This could become potentially annoying if, for example, you received a call while you were working on your Mac or using your iPad and your iPhone was in another room.

Now with iOS 8 and Mac OS X Yosemite, you can receive a phone call not only on your iPhone, but also on your iPad and Mac. This is because the new function called Continuity, and it will be useful as long as all the devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and the same iCloud account.

How to make and receive calls from iPad, iPod touch or Mac using your iPhone

-Open the application Settings, go to the section iCloud and verify that all your devices are connected to the same iCloud account.

-Go back to the main Settings view and enter the section FaceTime. Make sure the option Phone calls iPhone it is connected to both your iPad and your iPhone.

-Connect the two devices to the same Wi-Fi network.

-Now you can open the contacts application of your iPad, press any contact and the call will be made.

-This action will launch an app similar in appearance to the iPhone and it will inform you that you are making the call from the mobile device.

-You will also see a banner on your iPhone indicating that the call is being made. If you press this banner, the Phone application will open and you can continue the call from the device.

To do it on the Mac you will need to wait for the final version of OS X Yosemite or install the public beta on the mac

To me the same that many comment. Sometimes he gets the calls. and does not let me call. Fake by opening the phone app and it closes again. Do you think I should reset the ipad?

    Hello Gustavo,
if it is indeed updated to 8.0.2 (I have not restored), when I receive the calls if they go out on my iPad (not always the truth), and in fact I can not make the call from the iPad.
Do you think I should restore it?

Good afternoon Gustavo, I updated and also restored my iPad. Calls come in but when I try to answer the application closes and won't let me answer. Also when trying to dial it starts but the application closes and I cannot call

Hi, I have an iPhone 5s (restored to 8.0) and an ipad 2 (restored to 8.0.2). It works for me without any problems. From the iPhone 2 to date I have learned that when one updates - instead of restoring - there is always something that is not working properly. I suggest that, after a backup - I prefer on iTunes - restore. Keep in mind that restoring the backup is slow, but it will be a matter of patience. On my ipad 2 of 64, packed with applications and at capacity limit, it took me a day. It also gave me extra space. Luck

My iPad 3 just blinks and goes back to screen when trying to call. I have an Iphone 5c and they are both with the same Icloud account.
A friend who has an Iphone 5 gets his number in Settings, Facetime, but not me.
Obviously it is a serious flaw of IOS 8.0.2!

PS: I already restored both teams and still the problem

Everything is perfect, the only thing is that I cannot make calls from my ipad, I receive perfect calls but I cannot receive them, what will it be?

It works perfectly for me, you just have to activate Facetime on both devices (iPad and iPhone)
    : )

With 8.1 it already works very well

And why do you want to talk on the phone with someone who is on the same Wi-Fi as you and who is surely three steps from you? What absurdity. And above with the same iCloud account? Great, you can now talk to yourself from iPhone to iPad. Super cool memeces.

So stupid people, you can see that you don't have an iPhone you have a cell phone that is only used for calls, what you say is not the use that is given, if you receive a call on your iPhone and you are on your iPad, you can answer from the iPad without having to go find the iPhone you have on the table or elsewhere, and the calls you receive do not need to be on Wi-Fi, the iPad and iPhone you have have to be on the same Wi-Fi network to be able to do that function haha what a moron person.
