How to order plug adapter replacement from Apple

Plug

A few days ago we told you how Apple had started a plug adapter replacement program for some chargers of its products in Europe. It appears, according to information that the company itself has provided, that some of these adapters are defective and can cause accidents by breaking when they are removed from the plug. Although few cases have been detected in which it has occurred, Apple have decided to cut their losses and replace all suspects. Do you want to know how to know if your product is defective? You don't know how to request the replacement of the part for a new one without this failure? Well, we explain everything below.

The chargers are not affected, only the adapter

The information that you can find on some sites is somewhat misleading: It is not the chargers themselves that are affected, but the plug adapter. That piece that appears in the header photo and that works for both the MacBook chargers and the iPad charger. Only that part is the damaged one and therefore only that part is the one that will be replaced.

serial number

How to know if I have an affected product

It is quite simple, we only need the serial number of the product (travel kit, MacBook, iPad or charger) that we can find in the product. In OS X we can go to «> About this Mac» and it will appear to us in the image that you can see just above these lines (pixelated in the image). On the iPad we can go to «Settings> General> Information» and we can see the number.

Once we have it, click on this link To go to the official Apple page of the replacement program, we choose our country and insert the serial number in the box that appears. We will then have to enter our access data to the Apple account and it will appear to us if we are affected or not. If so, we will have to fill in the shipping information so that the replacement part arrives and we will have finished. It only remains to wait to receive it.

I do not agree . I have an iPhone 6, which does not have that adapter, and it is affected anyway. The magazine is one piece, and is affected the same. So the information is wrong

It will be wrong on Apple's own page, which makes it very clear:

"Note: This program does not affect other plug adapters such as the US, UK, China and Japan, or Apple USB power adapters."
