The presentation of iPadPOS, the equivalent of iOS 13 for iPad, brought us a pleasant surprise: Apple added the compatibility of the controllers of PS4 and Xbox with iOS and iPadOS. Compatible controllers
Apple confirmed us the controls compatible with iOS 13, tvOS 13 and iPadOS: the PS4 DualShock 4 controllers and the Xbox One S controllers. The original controllers of the Xbox One are not compatible because they do not have a Bluetooth connection, necessary to be able to connect with our devices. Hopefully the Xbox One X controllers are also compatible because they use this type of connection, but Apple did not confirm this point. Of course We can also continue to use MFi controls, such as the Steelseries Nimbus, so far one of the few options that we could use with our Apple devices.

What devices can we connect the controllers to? Anyone compatible with iOS 13, iPadOS and tvOS 13. That is, iPhone, iPad, iPad Pro and Apple TV 4 and 4K. In all these devices we can use the controls of our favorite console to play.
Compatible games
In addition to a controller and a device, we will need games that are compatible with external controllers. The catalog is gradually spreading, and we have titles of the highest quality such as NBA 2K19, GRID Autosport, LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Jurassic World ... and a long etcetera. In principle all games with support for MFi controllers should work, but obviously I have not been able to test all of them to certify it. Of course, the eternal Fortnite is compatible, and so I show you in the video of the article. In addition, the PS4 Remote application (link) is compatible so you can play your PS4 from a distance on your iPad using the DualShock 4, as if you were at home.

Link control knobs
It is very easy to link the controllers to your iPad, iPhone and Apple TV. The first thing you should do is turn on the control knobs, and put them in "link mode".
- DualShock 4: press the «PS» and «Share» buttons simultaneously for a few seconds until the white light flashes
- Xbox One S: press the "link" button at the top until the Xbox logo flashes rapidly.
Once they are in this mode, we access the Bluetooth menu of the settings of our iPhone, iPad or Apple TV, and select the control knob that should appear among the available devices. That's it, they are ready to use.
