How to put a ringtone on iPhone

iPhone Ringtone

We can say that this is one of the things that Apple would have to improve today in its iPhone. And is that put a custom ringtone on the iPhone It is not that it is complicated, but it is somewhat more tedious to carry out than in the rest of smartphones outside the iOS operating system.

Custom iPhone ringtones have always been a little headache for users and in this case we are going to see some of the ways that we have available to put a ringtone without it costing us money, totally free.

It is important to say that in this case a native application is required to carry out this action. at Apple There are no applications that allow you to download ringtones for free, therefore it is necessary to be clear that the apps that we are going to use in this tutorial are all free and do not require any type of additional payment.

Put a ringtone on iPhone with Garageband

In this case, the way we are going to show to add or create a ringtone is nothing complicated and you can use any song, whatever you want. This way of creating ringtones with Garageband is for me the best option to change the ringtone on an iPhone without having to pay for a ringtone, which obviously also exists.

For those users who have contracted Apple Music can use any song from the service as a ringtone once downloaded. This is important to note and it is not necessary to have Apple Music since we can use any iTunes song that we have previously purchased or downloaded to our iPhone. In this sense we are not going to say the options that there are for downloading music.

The first thing we have to do is download the GarageBand app from the App Store. This application is completely free and you can install it directly on your iPhone or iPad from the following link. The GarageBand app has been around for a long time and is completely free.

Ok, now we have the application downloaded on our iPhone and what we have to do is directly click on it so that it opens. Once opened, we will see that there are several options available, among which are piano, guitar, etc. We have to go to the audio recorder option. Here we are going to start creating our custom ringtone.

Now that we have the audio recorder open, we have to click on the third top left icon which is a microphone (in some cases there may be a kind of “brick wall” that is for another type of audio function tap on it until the microphone appears) and then we have to look further to the right and click on the string in the form of a “loop” that appears next to the settings icon or toothed saw.

Once pressed, a series of options will appear with a new window in which you can see: Apple Loops, Files and Music. In this case, it must be said that we can have files downloaded to the iPhone and access them to edit the ringtone that we want. That's why we talked earlier about downloading songs from anywhere or past them from iTunes to our iPhone. In this case you can choose the option you want either files or music.

Okay now we have the song chosen what we have to do is keep pressing on it dragging directly out of the open window. This moment is key since we need the song to start as a ringtone where we want and for this it is as simple as clicking on the entire bar that has appeared in the song and moving it to the left side. This seems complicated at first but it is not. We can also drag from the left side, that is, from the beginning of the song, to the right side and take the fragment that we want.

The only thing to keep in mind here is that all the blue bar of the song is left margin, in this way we make sure that the tone will start with sound and not with silence. This is done in a simple way by dragging directly with your finger. If you look at the top, a counter appears that starts with the number 0:00. This will be the time that the tone lasts, so I advise you to make a maximum of tones of between 15 and 25 seconds, since more than 30 are not usually picked up by the iPhone because they are too long.

Once the tone has been created, we have to click on the little arrow that points down and then the “My songs” option immediately appears. Click on my songs and the recent GarageBand my song will appear here. We hold down on it (My song) and we rename the song to the name we want  since this will be the one we see in the ringtones.

Now in the same song that we have created, we simply leave it pressed and look for the share option, there we have to click on the tone, we simply touch to create a personalized tone on the iPhone. Then the option to export tone to your tones appears to me and we directly click on export in the upper right. The tone will be exported and ready, click on OK.

Put the ringtone created with Garageband on the iPhone

Now we have created the ringtone and what we have to do is simply place it as a ringtone. This can be done directly from the moment we export the ringtone, choosing the option to place as a ringtone or directly access the iPhone settings, sounds and vibrations and search for the name of the song/tone that we have created in the GarageBand app.

Both options are easy to carry out but in this case for me the best option is to adjust it directly from the iPhone settings since in many cases we will have several tones and we can vary or place another one that is not the one we have created in that moment. think that we can create several tones at the same time and then use them whenever we want, as simple as that.
