iOS 14 was a big change for the iOS home screen as we knew it. They were introduced widgets on both iOS and iPadOS, some elements that allow display information directly without entering the applications. From then on all developers tried to turn widgets around by encouraging Apple to make them more and more interactive. This did not happen in iOS 15, but It seems that Apple could be considering incorporating interactive widgets in iOS 16, the next big update that we will see at WWDC 2022.
Interactive widgets could arrive with iOS 16
Currently developers can design their own widgets in different sizes to provide useful information to the user. But nevertheless, to interact with the app or with the content that is displayed, it is necessary to enter inside. For many, this dynamic means that the dynamism of the widgets that should evolve towards content control from the outside, from the home screen, is lost. Especially considering the versatility of iOS and iPadOS on ever larger screens.
The user @LeaksApplePro has published an image on his Twitter account showing an alleged leak of iOS 16. What we see, and you can see in the image that heads the article, are interactive widgets that would allow more specific actions. We see, for example, the possibility of starting a stopwatch and marking laps, controlling music playback or modifying the brightness of the terminal without having to enter the control center.
🔴EXCLUSIVE: iOS 16.
Be prepared for interactive widgets! Apple is now working on these "big widgets" internally named InfoShack.
Will tell you more about them soon. pic.twitter.com/GZF9zYjOsw- LeaksApplePro (@LeaksApplePro) January 26, 2022
We already know from experience that these types of leaks must be taken with great caution. Especially since there are still many months to see all the news of iOS 16 at WWDC. But nevertheless, It does not seem unreasonable to think that after two years Apple wants to take its widgets on the home screen one step further. and perhaps making them more interactive could be a good option.
